Experimental effects on lasers
What do you like using for burst/pulse?

I'm outfitting my FAS with two large multicannons (overcharged/corrosive shell and overcharged/auto reload) and a pair of medium burst lasers.

I was thinking rapid fire/scramble spectrum on one, but I'm not sure about the other.

I got mine legacy insane god rolls on long range pulses on my cutter with +10 damage,+10 rate of fire, on all,and low distributor draw as secondary,to counter negative effects beacause of ,all phasing sequence and one with scramble effect...i did maybe 500 rolls back then...

rapids/scramble that is what im sporting on my ships, for ships like Vulture rapids/phasing sequence is pretty awesome

I was under the impression that scramble doesn't stack. Is it still worth it to have it on two hardpoints?

No,a waste of special effect...only 1.

more guns affected by this effect the better the chance of triggering random malfunctions

However,rapid mod has a jitter...and a nasty range fall-off.

Well on gimbals that can be a problem unless you keep close to your target or use fixed mounts :)

long range is the best one to get you have a 6K range and no drop off so at 1K you are not doing 75% damage at 2km 50% and just before 3km 25%. my python has 2 long range pulse with phasing and 1 long lange pulse with scramble. its nice to snipe ships at 6K.

Scramble spectrum is not really good.
Long range makes you deal more dmg than any other upgrade (in theory) at 1km and further.
Scramble is not reallygood, pahsing is really specific as well as the thermal conduit is. Only for special builds and special ships.
That leaves you with pretty much nothing... lol.

I personaly think it's a bit of a waste laser+MC on a ship like a FAS, but than again what do I know...
focused weapons are a better option imo on med-small lasers, damage falloff is still increased + they can actually penetrate tougher hulls, even a large can see benefits this way
experimentals on lasers are a bit "whatever suits your purpose" as none are particulary enticing, except maybe scamble spectrum just for the fun of it

Kinda wrong, as Smoking Man said, Focused has certain advantages, as it does boost your Falloff to 1k and give you a nice Armor Penetration bonus. But it's an easy mistake because so few people even register the existence of Focused Weapon on Lasers.

More to OP's point, personally I think Scramble Spectrum is useless if your weapon is designed for damage. As a matter of fact, I would go so far to say as Scramble Spectrum should only be used on Turreted lasers that guard big-ship blind spots. Turrets themselves aren't going to be winning any battles, but you can punish a ship in your blind spot pretty well with some Medium Scrambled Focused lasers. I use 4 on my cutter, and they consume just enough CAP power to deplete 1 pip to WEP, so I just let them run full time basically.

for beam :

1. long range thermal vent
2. efficient thermal vent
3. overcharged thermal vent

for burst

1. long range oversized
2. focused oversized
3. overcharged oversized

for pulse

1. focused oversized
2. rapid fire oversized
3. efficient oversized

for insanity

1. short range inertial impact burst
2. overcharged thermal conduit beam
3. rapidfire phasing sequence pulse

very important reminder :

1. for pulse, rapid fire > overcharged, because rapidfire has better damage/distributor draw/heat/second
2. for the love of RNGesus DO NOT PUT RAPID FIRE for burst laser, the worst, worthless laser mod ever because rapid fire messed up with burst's damage/burst interval/shot/rate of fire ratio! THE SAME goes for multiservo effects, it ruin your burst lasers!
3. 1 long range beam laser often times much better for beam lasers than efficient unless you can put 2 efficient beam lasers on your ship because of the damage/distributor draw/heat that you have to calculate yourself :D use the new edshipyard stats for that.
