But like all Lakon ships it has a glass jaw, so you need to be careful not to get the canopy shot out.
The FAS has better manuverability.
however these are marginal differences that make little practical difference. For all intents and purposes they'll be about equal 90% of the time.
Really hard choice, FAS is has more compact silhouette while Chief being a bit wide can mount more varied weapons.
1. No rank requirement
2. Better jump range
3. Faster normal cruise speed
4. 1 more C4 military slot
5. More weapons (3 small guns are way better than 1 medium gun) with better convergence
6. Bigger biggest class internal slot
7. Better shield
Fas advantages are :
1. Slightly better yaw
2. Better boost speed
3. More internal slots albeit smaller (a class 3 internal slot VS a class 4 military slot on the chieftain)
4. Slightly better hull points
That's it, chieftain stomp the fas IMO.
on paper their maneuverability is exactly the same and FAS has 80t more base weight.
If that makes a differance for you
That's exactly what I said. these are marginal differences the average player won't notice. The Chief is basically equal to the FAS without the rank grind.
I still prefer the FAS but its more personal preference and the fact I already have one built and set up exactly how I want so switching would gain me nothing and I'd have to waste building it, setting it up, and testing.
A thing that bothers me a bit about the FAS is the hard point placement. If you are using gimballs you need to lead quite a bit or stay back to make sure both the top and bottom guns are active.
The FDL is a combat ship on which *many* pilots compare all other ships in terms of sheer performance and firepower.
The Alliance Chieftain is superior to the FDL. Not by a lot...but by a bit.
And making it better than the FDL, even by a little bit - makes it the best combat ship in its class.
That's just my opinion from playing the game for almost 1,700 hours...so...you know, take it for what it's worth.
