4A vs 2A FSD interdiction
hi folks,

I've seen a lot of discussion online but much of it was old and/or inconclusive. Not that I've had a chance to play with my combat fitted FdL, I'm loving it - but am hating having to travel with it at all, due to poor range and small fuel scoop.

The current configuration has a 2A fuel scoop and a 4A FSD interdictor, and I'm considering swapping those. Wondered if anyone had any thoughts or experience with downsizing the FSD interdictor - I know I'll lose some range, but is that all I'm essentially giving up?

edited to add: my thought process was I rarely interdict targets, prefering to hunt in CZ and hazres sites, while I do have to travel to run missions and get to hunting grounds. So, seems to me that I'd get more use out of the fuel scoop, and that one ought to be the higher grade...

I've only ever used (or needed ) a 2A for interdicting NPC's. I rarely have to do it. However, I rarely travel in my fighting ships since any slot not decidacted to fighting makes it less effective so generally, I'll fly my taxi out to where I'm going and transer the fighting ship there, avoiding the need for fuel scoop, disco scanner, and all the unnecessary non-fighting bits.

however, on my general purpose mission runners (I have a python and anaconda set up for that) if I carry an interdictor at all (I sometimes will ship it in if I need it rather than always fly around with it) it's a 2A.

Yeah, I had been doing that, but the last few trips were a million and change each to move the fighter around, and I'm still <100 mil in free cash, so figured that was overhead I could save. Lately I've sent for my runabout (my little taxi ship) and used that to go get my fighter, but it still ends up with longer than ideal trips in the fighter.

I thought, too, of just leaving the scoop in storage and only equipping it when I wanted to travel, but based on other craft I've found the waiting for a half hour or more for components to catch up with me to be frustrating as well.

I think I'll try swapping it out. It occurs to me as sellback is 100% and neither component is engineered that if I'm really unhappy this way, i can swap back and not lose anything.
