Meta alloys. where to/how to find ?

I need meta alloys for felicity to upgrade fsd by 50% but i can only find info on 2 systems that are 300+LY away, are there any systems closer.

I understand that best locations are heavy metals/high metal planets with barnicles to harvest but when i fully scan the planets with blue semi-circles on all i find are settlements.
Do i have to fly down to he planet before anything will show up ?

300+Ly is where they are. You can either harvest them there, or buy it at a planetary outpost Darnelle's Progress in Maia star system.

Or you can try to buy it at one of fleet carriers that might sell it around Deciat.

Buy them from Darnielle's Progress in Maia. They are flaming expensive though and the stock is always low.

like those guys said above or if your brave enough you can go to Unknown structures (thargoid bases) or thargoid barnacle and collect them for free, you will need corrosive cargo rack first of all to carry any type of thargoid stuff.

you dont need corrosion racks for meta alloys , and you can search on inara who/where peopl selling them (if im not mistaken)

Its perfetly safe to go into goids land brother , and search , please do it , its a cool sight seen , no harm will come to you i assure you , the small drone goids you can even kill them for fun with your pistol , thats how easy they are....

I was talking to him, I wasn't talking about myself, I play this game for a very long time and I can kill thargoids. I just advised him to bring corrosive cargo rack with him if he decides to go to thargoids places, he may want to grab some thargoid stuff while he will be there. btw...I wouldn't say perfectly safe as you can get interdicted by thargoids, especially if your carrying thargoid stuff or meta-alloy.

On my first trip, i used a Sidewinder to get there. Subsequently i used Cobra Mk III and Type-6. So far never got interdicted for meta-alloys. It's tedious, you can carry only 2 in the SRV, so you got to unload them first in order to collect more. Made a ton of money selling hundreds of MAs but i wouldn't recommend it as a way of farming credits; takes too long and too dangerous IMO.

Some sites have Thargoid drones patrolling. Dunno if they'll attack but i stayed well away from them before shooting the barnacles or hauling the MAs.

Each site only has 4-5 MAs so you have to go to another site or reload the game if you want to stay on the same site.
