What We know.

The system is likely close to colonized space, being that early accounts began to spread when galactic travel was in its infancy.

It likely requires an elite rank to access.

It is in the game.

Hypothesis: the dark wheel is now the pilot's federation, their hub system Shinrarta Dezhra is an Elite locked system, and is possibly either the secret location of Raxxla or the first place to look.

Its confirmed in game by the devs. Or do you mean its just something we will never really get THAT close to?

FD have stated it doesn't require any sort of special ship or rank to find Raxxla.

It has been confirmed as being in game.

My guess is, its not what we think it is, otherwise it would have been found by now.

For all we know its just a random signal source and when you drop into it there is a beacon that says "Raxxla woz 'ere, trolllololloooo"

And in your musing, remember, it would have been added at the start, before we had planetary landings and lots of other things. Something to factor into your musings.

Additionally, its location is probably a closely guarded secret in FD as well, otherwise someone would have leaked it by now. This possibly means that its name is obfuscated in code and even in-game it might not be called Raxxla.

Thank you! I'll be combing this thread now for more details. Its funny I started with the codex entries, which initially got me interested, but now I have been spending more time out of game looking over threads and trying to use search engines to find things that could correlate with things like the Alleged Toast. I just thought it might be time to try to get the input or current players.

Also I wasn't aware they said you didn't need anything special to get there, that changes things. I think I might be headed to 27 Cassiopea the next time I'm on.

It has been obfuscated even back in ZX Spectrum Elite days. I remember reading back then that the original Elite used letter pairs normally occurring in words to generate system names, so that they look plausible. And there was no "XX" pair in the game code.

It was a mythical ship you could find in Elite II, for a long time players thought it didn't exist and then David Braben sort of confirmed that it was actually a pilot-able Thargoid ship and that it did exist but I don't think anyone ever found it.

The mirage never existed in Frontier. In FFE you could do Argent's quest though and first get the Turner Class ship, and if you continued, then you'd switch to a Thargoid ship, which was basically end game in terms of power.
