Ship Paintjobs ?
Anyway to change your ships colour ingame without having to spend real money ? I thought something as trivial as chaning your ships colour would have been a basic in a space game were the main focus is ships.

Seems a bit of an odd move, I could understand if you had to spend money to get exotic paintjobs but basic ones like black, white, Red or blue is a little over the top.

you can change your interface colours for free.

anyways, this has been debated before.
i am on the oposite side, aslong as the micro transactions contain cosmetics only i will gladly pay for them and i will continue to do so. i think they are doing a great job with their micro transactions.

occasionaly you can get some paintjobs from events or promotions.
just keep your eyes open and roam the forums/comunity sites so you don't miss out on any.

Well as long as we don't get microtransations that boost stats etc.... I suppose it's ok :-)

It would be nice if they made certain cosmetic or premium stuff real cash, but to make it all that way is a low blow.

I think making cosmetic changes a micro transaction is great. It's purely an aesthetics thing, you can't get an advantage over other players, like with loot crates. Frontier gets paid, I get to pimp my ride, the game play stays the same.

I agree, while also accepting that I would rather this than some kind of monthly sub.

I always said, they should offer some basic colours free, even if only as an option when you first purchase the ship. Then sell everything else, ship kits, bobble heads, the interesting individual paint jobs.

They should at least let us switch back to the original paint job though, if you do buy one. You don't even et to "keep" the stock one. Puts me off ever painting my Imperial ships.

What are you talking about?
You can switch back to the original color any time... :nonplussed_creep:
Just 'remove' the current paint.

(i didn't wait for the preview to remove the paintjob to take the screen... but select that and you'll have the default paintjob active)

I think the cosmetics as microtransactions are ok. they are cheap and totally optional plus they have sales during the year. 4 usd for 6 , 3 for 3 usd and 1 for 1.75 or cheaper during sales isn't that bad they keep the servers up with no subscription needed so i'm ok with cosmetics.

They even give away cosmetic stuff during certain activities like events (pax for example) and livestreams...
hell you even have 4 packs for free in the store you just need to redeem them. might not be stuff you want but they're free so go get them.

What? I'll check this out in a bit.

So when you buy a paint job, you only have the choices of the paid ones but by removing whichever one is selected it goes back to the stock job?

I don't remember seeing a remove option for the paint jobs, like there is with the decals etc, but I imagine you're right.

Yup.
I just wanted to see where the opetion is exactely but unfortunately the servers are down.

You can definitely remove the paintjobs completely and get the original color back.

Ty. Not the first nor last time (I'm sure), that I complain about a mechanic lacking from the game while it's already there.

I love this game, and the fact that they don't ram things down your throat. Down side being, one can think they know what it has to offer when they really do not.

Backers were given a choice. Subscription fee or cosmetic store. The results were 100% for a cosmetic store. The low amount of effort required is exactlt why its a subscription alternative.

Understand that not EVERY paintjob costs. I got a freebie Chrome Skin for Eagle a few months back by participating in a Community Goal. Rare, but they DO come along now and again.
