Well now I gotta unlock the Sarge. All I can do is G2 on the cannon till then.
Time to get busy I guess.
Currently have frags on one of my Cobras, rather nice. Cannons i have on my Orca pirate ship (because who needs thermal attacks when shields are so weak on trade ships anyway?) and so good for taking out thrusters and powerplant.
And of course, there was my Federal Funship.

I just came across that video lastnight, I realised I'm only a partial rank off from being able to buy a gunship I had to look up interesting loadouts xD Wanted one for awhile. That build looks pretty fun I must admit :P
Can't argue with 7 hardpoints on a medium ship ;)
Be warned though, you need to adjust your flying style, its a bit of a strange beast to fly.
On my vette i tried frags and they sucked ... Hard. They are only viable for smaller ships.
The huge cannons with OC5 and high yield though are monstrous. They wreck internals like they are made of paper. A conda needs 3 to 4 hits and is down. Armor or not. The large and huge cannons always pierce.
Edit:
After being on my PC now and reading all of the posts:
- Cannons wreck hull and internals
- no need for sturdy mod on large and huge cannons. Both have a pierce value >= 70 (70 for large and 90 for huge), which means they ALWAYS pierce, since the highest armor hardness in the game is 70 (Corvette, Cutter, FDL).
- I see no point in going efficient, since cannons have only a very low power usage and very low thermal load. Overcharged is the thing to go, as is gives the most damage.
- as I said the two huge cannons on the vette, Grade 5 OC and both with High Yield special effect wreck internals like nothing I have seen. I killed a T9 in a CZ and it didn't even know what hit it. Took like 4 seconds. (Bam, Shields down, Bam, PowerPlant (and some other things) --> 0%. Byebye...). It really puts a smile to my face everytime a ship gets a full load to the face.
(An NPC BattleConda lasts about 10 seconds as soon as shields go down.)
