Pre-order cancelled. Without proper VR support, I cannot support F-Dev anymore...

I am tired of Frontier Development and their minimum viable products. These videos of VR users flying onto a planet, getting out of their ships, and standing in VR Theatre mode while playing in 2D are just simply pathetic.

I understand that they have other priorities. You have to squash bugs, adjust values, and polish the alpha to release the DLC on time - I get that. I'm not asking for a solution on release - I understand that the majority of users are on flat screens. But for me to throw another $40 at F-Dev, I need a solid commitment that VR gameplay will be a focus moving forward.

No "exploring" the idea. No "we'll consider. it." Commit to it, F-Dev. Otherwise that $40 is going to an indie VR dev who wants to innovate.

Edit: If you don't own VR, please do not share your opinions about VR. Idc why you don't have it or don't want it.

If you don't want Facebook, keep an eye out for HTC's announcement next month 5/11 and 12, and keep an eye on DecaGear as they claim to be offering an Index alternative at less than half the price. It's still to be seen if they can deliver, but their first device (DecaGear on the hip) has received a monstrously positive reaction.

Another vote for the Index here; I didn't even realize that my original Vive had screen door effect until I put on my Index for the first time.

I would rather than release the full dlc instead of wasting time on features for VR people. It will come, just not at launch. Be patient, their are plenty if other games you can play that have VR.

I still find it a trivial issue, but yes... holding FDEV's feet to the fire is a good idea.

VR for FPS is way too time consuming for Fdev. Especially considering the small number who use it.

Oh and anyone serious about VR would know it has been said for a long time no VR.

I have VR. I do like the Quest 2, it's a neat device and some of the made-for-VR games like the Darth Vader ones are good, but they are pretty limited experiences. I just don't see VR in its current implementation as something that will appeal to the masses. It needs some sort of paradigm change - something that takes it away from the bulky headsets. As far as Elite is concerned, with using a combination of keyboard/mouse and Hotas, VR doesn't seem to be a great option. YMMV of course but I prefer to use TrackIR with this game given the complexity of the controls and the need to see what you're doing. I think Odyssey will only add to this problem. On some level I do have compassion for people like the OP who just seem so damned disappointed ... if it comes someday I won't argue against it. I just don't think it's particularly important to do right now.

Which VR headset you bought? I'm thinking on buying one too, but the Oculus requiring Facebook sign in puts me off :-/

I got the HTC's Vive, and upgraded it later to Vive Pro. The resolution upgrade made it readable enough to be pleasant to my eyes.

If VR is the main feature that you want from the game, then sure, don't buy the DLC until it has it.

But if the gameplay is the main reason for buying it, then the absence of VR feature is not a gamestopper.

VR is not special, it is over priced garbage. Looks like garbage, the resolution is garbage the price is garbage. VR sucks. period. It is a waste of time if any wants to know, I don't at all recommend you spending your money on ugly VR.
