Odyssey Video Download
Loving the (startlingly few) streams of Phase 2 but the quality streamers put up is pretty bad. Any way I could download even well encoded 720p video somewhere? Suppose I have to pay for YouTube now...

No idea what your problem is but i've watched a couple of vids in high quality.

I don't think YouTube have done anything wrong here.

YouTube has reduced the default video stream quality since a lot of streams were done during lockdowns. Now it doesn't stream at the max quality that your network can do. I get auto at 480p, while I can do 1080p no problems.

Click at ... on top right, and choose a better quality stream manually, and you will get a better quality stream.

Mind throwing out a link, could isolate an issue. I watched Exiguos and Plater both were pretty bad bitrate.

Some streamers have been dropping to 0.75 supersampling because the Alpha frame rates are low, and encoding and streaming on top of that slows them further.

Astro has a different setup to most. As I understand it, the video from the gaming PC passes through the second machine which does the encoding and streaming, and so there's no impact on the frame rates.

Cmdr Plater has a 1070 or 1080 I think. Ricardo's Gaming just got a new pc with a 3080 and Exigeous has a powerful setup too. All of them streamed yesterday.

What another option do you have in mind? You can set 720p - it will still look better than the currently used auto 480p stream chosen by YouTube.

Yeah that does seem better but hard to judge on 720p phone. I'll check tomorrow.

Also not seeing Ricardo's phase 2 video, some issue there I suppose.

The external capture cards that sit between monitor and GPU would work similarly to DtEA's setup yes? Considered one of those...

Just making sure I was aware of all settings. 1080p setting has massive color gradient issues and square blurry patches for me so wondered if maybe live videos had additional options.

Ah, I don't know about live streams. YouTube may have a different approach to those.

Yeah, nope. All of them markedly fuzzy at 1080p, even tried slow mo in case they couldn't buffer.

Not sure what lensdump will do to it but...

The encoding on that terrain and structure walls is atrocious, although the interface and gun show up fairly well.

I've run into this issue with my own uploads, just figured they reserved bitrate for videos with views. The difference between watching on Youtube and from a file is night and day.

The encoding on this video seems to be leaps and bounds better, for example. Might be the fact that's it's daytime, though. Color gradients can give encoding issues, I presume.
