My vision is pretty good, and only minimal blurriness.
I got inserts for my Vive and they're awesome. I used to play with my glasses on, but this is clearer, less god-rays and definitely more convenient. If you're going to have glasses made special anyway, I'd spring for these. They're only around $80 IIRC.

I bet they're good stuff!
I wear contact lenses in the Oculus. NO problem whatsoever... I also wear them when driving if it's sunny... How am I risking my vision?
Worst case scenario, the heat inside the headset dries them out slightly quicker.
As for "fad mode"? Once you've played Elite in VR, you won't want to play on a regular screen ever again.
When I pull it out about 1/4 of an inch it's perfectly clear. If there was something to adjust the distance from my eyes that would be the perfect solution rather than glasses. I have tried my reading glasses with it. Can't tell if they would work or not because it is literally physically painfull to wear them with the Oculus. It just isn't a glasses friendly device.
I like the idea of the inserts but what prescription would I need? The reading glasses prescription? I have bi focals for mid range and reading...... nothing for distance. So I just don't know.
It should be your distance prescription. I don't know specifics about the Rift, but for Vive the focal length is around 1.5m IIRC.
The Vive has an adjustment for physical distance from eyes. Sounds like that would work for you. Not sure about the Rift.
Getting a Vive Pro next time anyway so problem will be solved.
yea, but tinfoil hats are perfectly fine :)
