Remove Engineers, they've ruined the game and now I refuse to use Open Play
I will refuse to play in Open Play until they remove engineers. I'm not a hardcore player so the difference between me and a person who's built for PVP PLUS has engineer upgrades makes it impossible for me to do anything against them but die. I literally get killed in 3 hits in my anaconda by neckbeards who do nothing but gank players all day. It used to not be this way but engineers has made the skillgap and time investment gap far too wide. The difference between a weapon that hasn't been fully decked out by an engineer vs. a normal store-bought one is insane.

Most of the time I never come across people anyways, so what's the positive to me being in open play? The PVP just isn't fair in the slightest anymore. I'm tired of losing millions of credits and more importantly MY OWN TIME when I get ganked while trying to do community events. You wanna know why people aren't playing in Open Play? This is why. There's no reason to do it and the min maxers actively ruin any chance of there being social interaction in the game.

This is why community events get completed by an invisible force you never see. People are sick of dealing with these people when there isn't a reason to. The game wasn't balanced around PVP but there's no way to opt out apart from leaving MP entirely. What a shame too because there could be something interesting there. I guess it's my fault though for wanting to explore and do the community event.

go to mobius then, problem solved

No.
You can join the Mobius Private Group - it is a PvE only group. But you wouldn't get any player attacks on you there, at all. Not even fair ones.

Engineers wouldn't be removed - it's a big part of the Horizons DLC. It is also very useful for the exploration and trading, not just the combat. So people wouldn't give up on using the Engineers.

I do feel your pain. Just don't do it in Open, where there is a high concentration of gankers. If they want to drive people away from the Open, then they will have their Open Solo experience.

Or you can block those, who tried to gank you, and they wouldn't be in your game instance anymore.

Mobius is a popular pve-only private group, perfect for opting out of player attacks while still being able to meet people, I highly recommend it.

in my anaconda

Am i the only one who thinks this doesn't match up? Unless you used the cheap methods to get your Anaconda, but then you have way less experience than the gankers and you'd die anyway. Not saying i condone their behaviour, but something doesn't add up in your story.

I consider it (edit. The engineering not n00b ganking) something to aspire to. I learned missile swarms are possible tonight. Now to learn to deal with them...

Point Defences.

I'm all for removing engineering in its current insanely overblown form and maybe bring it back in a more balanced fashion with actual downsides later.

"Fair"? Seriously? When was PvP supposed to be fair? I mean granted, I came here from EVE where all skills are time-trained and people with more skill points just melt you and everyone tells you to just suck it up, buttercup. Maybe that has somewhat tainted my outlook, but it makes perfect sense that the "time-investing neckbeards" should indeed have an advantage over you. But again, maybe I have a more grim outlook on this. I never thought PvP was supposed to be geared so that everyone is on a level playing field. Getting rekt is a part of life when you throw yourself into the meatgrinder.

I think its too late to go down that rabbit hole as it would hurt more than heal after 3.5 years of mat grind. Engineers weren't the most clear minded feature even after numerous adjustments, lots of dev time spent and its still a balance nightmare outside of planned battles.

Well engineers amplified the balance issues and there's the having the dlc or not on top of that.

Never, the game's premise never allowed for it.

PVP will never ever be fair by the very logical thing called skill and time spent. Be it memorizing map in an FPS, or farming engineering mats.

Engineers are simply "time spent", nothing more. So everybody can spend their time achieving the same goal.

I'm not entirely sure what is this topic about, you have so many options to play the game, be it alone, with friends or with larger PVE groups, and then you have the Arena for when you are ready for PVP.

Not going to happen OP. See you in solo! (or not :D).
Mr Robert House Dec 17, 2019 @ 6:45am
So keep playing in solo, nothing wrong with that

I have a lot of time in this game but still stay in solo, not only do people in specially engineered pvp ships have an advantage that you cannot counter in anything other than a pure pvp ship but they also tend to hang out in wings.

I do use open in my home system to keep an eye on how popular it is, and I don't see many warships, they're all at community goals and Jameson.
