unlocking selene jean?

I don't need help with the painite but just the inital mine 500 tons, is there a easier way to do it? I can barely mine 10 tons without getting bored, why did they lock the most important engineers behind mining

Install collector limpets. Then mine everything and dump what you mine. Keep mining and dumping. It only counts the total number of refined ore, you don't have to sell it.

Don't grind it. You'll bore yourself to tears (I hate mining as well).

Just do what you enjoy, with little bits of mining when you can be bothered, you'll get there eventually.

This. And only for clarity - you need dump mined goods from your cargo, not from refinery.

you're going to have to bite the bullet i'm afraid, and mine 500t.

grab a condie if you have one.

slap 2x class 2 mining lasers on it, 2x 5A collectors, 1x 3A prospector, 1x 4A refinery, discovery scanner, some sort of shield, the rest cargo racks. you should easily end up with more than 250t of space. and off you go.

edit: prioritize jump range in the rest of the build, but max out thrusters and power distributor or it's going to hurt even more than it already does.

because the devs think you may change your mind about mining if they force you to do it for 1 or 2 hours
literaly that is the only reason, it's used as an extrinsic reward to encourage players to try different activities

Focus on fitting lots of collector limpets more than cargo space. Python is a good choice or anything bigger. Also plenty of mining lasers, enough to keep your collectors working full time.

I like to have at least 8 collector limpets.

Since Selene doesn't care about what materials you collect, just blast away and collect everything. Either periodically sell or just dump it and syntheize the limpets. Personally i'd sell and restock on the limpets, might as well make some money from it.

With a decent setup you should be able to refine 100t in about 30 mins, so 2.5 hours of mining to meet the requirements.

selene needs painite so i focused on it, made a cool couple of hundred million doing that, even returned to them rings once selene applied her voodoo on my armour.

i kind of enjoy mining in elite, especially with certain substances. but those may be of questionable legality depending on where you live so i won't elaborate further.
