Elite Horizons owners and Odyssey

Please correct me if I am wrong...
Long time owners of the base game and expansion horizons will not have access to the new looking improved planets? I am NOT talking about being on foot. Rather flying on the surface and SRV exploring.

Are we not getting this??? The only way to experiance the improved planet graphics is if we own Odyssey?

What new looking and improved planets? If you are talking atmospheric planets - they are new to the game, and will be accessible only through Odyssey, just like all on-planet content was on Horizons launch. If you are talking new planet surface render - it's rolled out for both Odyssey and Horizons.

This will happen when Odyssey is launched on consoles, in Autumn 2021:

All Horizons players will also receive the new graphical updates, including the new planetary tech, lighting, and organics, free of charge, but will not be able to get out on foot or enter Odyssey’s tenuous atmospheres.

On PC launch in May 19th only Odyssey owners will get those improvements.

Yep. Came here for the same thing. The console players will get all upgrades for crossplay between horizon and odyssey while the PC gamers get left behind. Kind of a ♥♥♥♥-move :-/

Are you sure that you have read it right?

In line with the console launch, we plan to update Elite Dangerous on all platforms (PC/PlayStation/Xbox) to allow Odyssey and Horizons players to reunite and play together with other users on their respective platform.

Yeah, that is what caused me to ask

Since no VR. I don't care about being of foot. I just want to explore these new looking planets in my SRV or fly overs.
I love VR so I am in it for the beuty of space and stuff

Ohhh, yeah, that was a misread on my part. Thank you for clearing that up. It read to me like they were implementing crossplay only for consoles.

I see now that there will be no crossplay ON LAUNCH, but when the console version is done, we will get crossplay on all platforms. Got it. That's a fair solution, actually.

You didn't misread, PC wasn't written there in the initial announcement.

only frontier can bring more confusion by trying to clear things up
everybody will get the new planetary tech and once ready,
all pc players will be able to play together like we used to.
but they won´t add any crossplay features for now.

On PC Horizons players get new planets when the console version releases. Until then Oddysey and Horizons players can't play together unless the odyssey player launches horizons from the launcher. Simple as that.

Peer pressure your Horizons friends into buying Odyssey so you are able to instance together, or, wiat till console launch sometime in the future.

Or launch Horizons if you want to play with their level of limitations. After all, you have the next DLC, they don't.

Can i fly through the atmospheric planets if i don't have odyssey? That's all i care about.
