Anyone know how to mine this stuff? is it like core mining with void opals or some other method?

Just Probe every comet in a rock belt with a double spot until u find a +15% or more one and LASER that thing till the good stuf pop out (using the mining laser.

Now... i would recommend going for platinun instead if u are laser mining. I think is more profitable now

just look for Painite, it will give you Painite overlaps (hotspots) where is very easy to find them

Just detailed surface scanner, prospectors, and laser mining is needed

Piece of advice, filter your Collector Limpets to ignore junk materials, this way you only pick up high money stuff that won't clog your refinery.

Painite is found mostly in metallic rings. The old CG system, HIP 22550 has three hotspots and I believe one of them was a double/overlap.

There are websites and tools you can use to find Painite hotspots, but you will need a DSS (Detailed Surface Scanner) in order to find where the hotspots are in a ring.

You harvest it easily by laser mining, making it easy for any ship to do.

Here is a list of links that can help you get started.

https://www.edtutorials.com/mining/a-simple-guide-to-the-january-2020-update-mining-mechanic/ - Bit outdated, but covers how the supply/demand nerf to mining works and gives website references to Inara to show the system in effect.

http://edtools.ddns.net/miner - You can select your system, how far you are willing to go, along with what type of mining you want to do (Pristine, Hotspot, etc) and will give you the closest station that players have found to be profitable at the moment close by to it.

https://inara.cz/galaxy-commodities/ - Gives the absolute best buying and selling prices for whatever you are looking for.

Im looking for Painite mostly for the engineer or to unlock the engineer. but if its a good source of cash then sure.

Ah, if it is for the engineer, then the best system to quickly get it done would be LHS 2661 , which is ~52 ly away.

Don't bother mining it, use EDDB to find a fleet carrier that sell it (Station do not sell pristine). https://eddb.io/commodity/83
Buying from carriers is actually a good idea, it should set you back 2-3mil maybe.

Now, if you have a decent ship let's say an ASPX you could probably mine like 100t that could sell for 220-240k let's say 20mil (minus the 10 units you need for the engineer)

In a overlapped hotspot you can mine the 100t very fast. Again, don't go mine just for those 10 units, not worth it.
