SRV hangar bug?

Try this next time you land on a planet:

Cut power to the srv hangar module prior to landing, then land somewhere.

'Deploy' the srv (your ship should tell you that it's unable to deploy)

Then bring back the power to your srv hangar module and retry a 'Deploy'


This is where my Elite crashed and on top of that I got a black adder. So I'm interested, does this happen to others, can the issue be reconstructed (this is where you can help by testing), or was it just a coincidence and my bad luck?



Note:
Before landing I'd just visited a station where I swapped a type H vehicle bay to a type G (half the tonnage) without buying a new srv... I assume the srv I already had was put into the new G bay module(?) or maybe this is where the bug was kickstarted in the first place(?)

Also, when I logged back into Elite the hangar was empty - no srv

Why did you turn off the vehicle bay in the first place?

Because I was in a DBX with d-rated modules incl. powerplant so cargo and veh bay is off, or I will exceed 100% power usage

Is fairly common to turn off modules especially on exploration ships with undersized power plants (you land, then you turn off fuel sccop or FSD, turn on hangar, keep going).

As to the OP, can you actually repro the issue yourself every time? If you don't have an SRV with you, the "Deploy" button should be grayed out.

and yes, whenever you buy or swap the srv hangar you need to buy the actual SRV, after that initial buy, then just restocking should do the trick.

I can't, sorry. Am far away in the black so no nearby station to get a new srv, hence why I thought it'd be quicker to just ask here

(but now I can't drive so might as well return home)

So this must have been the bug, since I didn't have to buy anything... The new veh bay came with an srv in it, which according to you it shouldn't have. And since I also got a black adder msg I guess it has to do with bad server connection/delays/lag. So maybe there was a short server gap just as I was buying the vehicle hangar, and my local Elite game didn't recognize before I tried to deploy my srv on that planet(?)
