Quest 2 controllers not working through steam VR
for whatever reason when i run the game in vr, all the headlook stuff works fine but my contrllers will have literally 0 response in game. ive made sure the window is focused and i cant even rebind commands using my oculus controllers. they work in any other VR game i run through steam so i dont know what im doing wrong here. any info would be great!

This game does not support VR controllers. Touch pads and buttons can work like a regular gamepad, but no motion controls will.

Alt-Tab to the client window on your 2D screen and click once with the mouse in it to give it focus, it should work then.

That's the issue, no buttons, pads or joysticks work.

I believe I said I made sure the window is focused, to no avail.

Yeah, ED doesn't support VR controllers motion controls. It's M+KB, controller, or hotas.

But shouldnt I be able to use the joysticks and buttons on the quest controllers as a controller? I'm not trying to use motion controls here

Did you turn off steam controller input in ditto settings?

Try opening the (old) windows control panel joystick window and keep it open while running the game. (if you rightclicked ED in steam and disabled controllers under properties, steam should no longer interfere) There is also a limit on how many controllers can be connected at once wrt ED.

The only other thing i can think of is missing drivers.

Only issue with the driver thing is they work fine in every other steam VR game. But I'll try the first thing you said when I get home and update you. Playing this with KB+M with a headset on kills me lol

You have to use oculus link for PC connection if you want touches to be identified by a game. Virtual desktop doesn't allow that unless you turn on gamepad emulation in settings, which is worse since it doesn't allow to browse through menus from the box

OP i misread the part about you wanting to use the joysticks/buttons on the VR controllers, so just ignore the windows control panel thing i said. (thought you meant a normal joystick)

You may be able to use something like this:
https://github.com/dantman/elite-vr-cockpit

There are other options for using VR controllers, however it will require a bit of tinkering with 3rd party programs like the link i just posted on your part.

You can search "elite dangerous virtual cockpit" to find more.

This link has some good info too:

I'm having the same problem as you, but can't figure out what you mean by "link up with my pc", how did you do it?

i already reached out to Frontier support, and they seem to believe that it is a problem on their end, they elevated my ticket with the internal QA team, but its been 3 weeks and I haven't heard, for what thats worth
