LIES!!!
they lied and said anyone who can play the original game can play odyssey just fine but I find myself heavily under a barrage of low fps to the point that it feels like I'm watching a slow motion video, I told everyone that there wasn't enough time to optimize the game after the horrendously heavy alpha phase.
if anyone has access to the ear or rather the eyes of the frontier devs, I beg of them to ask the devs to make playing on terribly low end pc's possible, honestly I don't care about graphics and the quality, I only have ever cared about gameplay and enjoy my games with high fps and no lags.
please fix it.
or rather stand by your promise and "optimize" it, because as of now, the performance is terrible.

Not sure if I would call it a lie maybe an understatement or they thought they could do that

I am gettin 10-20fps with shadows ultra, and 60ish with low.

It's playable for me but still not ideal, 30 to 40 FPS in the station or underground is pretty bad. And that is with a very expensive graphics card being the 2080 super, most people have under that so yes I understand and agree.

What is the rest of your specs? Also have you tried this?

i set shadows to low and i went into nvidia control panel and turned threaded optimisation to "On" i think i get about 5-10 fps difference. still has its usual drops in frames though

Mr Braben himself confirmed that he was able to play odyssey on a machine over 5 years old.

Fdev NEVER stated what the quality of the gameplay would be, I.e. they NEVER stated that someone could play the game on Ultra getting 60fps out of a 10 year old machine.

try resetting your graphics settings to defaults, this has helped some. I play in QHD with a 1060GTX. 60fps in space, 30 on foot, which is pretty good for that card.

no fps issues here, first gen ryzen 1600 and radeon 480. so pretty old. maybe its more modern systems having bigger issues...

Agree, they messed up with the requirements statement. Whether they knew or not, so whether they lied or just overly optimistic, we will never know.

Id say it sound like marketing problems. I'm sure the most important thing for marketing was that 1: you need the dlc for a bunch of stuff 2: everyone that is playiyng the base game can run it so everyone has to buy it.
Kind of like with CP2077, marketing demands that old consoles can run the the game that is supposed to be next gen = absolutely impossible job for the Devs

I was able to play it on a 10 year old CPU i7 3770 with a gtx1060 in beta, it was doable for sure. The only place I would I hit very low fps was on large military settlements with a lot of npc around, it would dip into the 25-30 fps. 45-55 fps on the concourse. 60 fps perfect in space with drops into the 50's when comming out of glide ect in 1080p.

They did? Where? Evidence of this claim?

How "terribly low" would you like to have them go? My computer is far and away from a "high end" rig and have no issues beyond the lighting and connection issues. I have a gtx 1060 6gb with 2 upgrades (I play Star Citizen) such as a external SSD and 32 gig ram.
Being that the game just came out a few days ago, give it a chance to get fixed . As to you believed they lied? Ok thats on you. If you ever believe in total what is "claimed" by a dev as regards a new release...well, that, again, is on you.
