Dark and broken lighting are two different things. Make sense?
If people aren't experiencing the same issue there is really no need to comment. If you are unsure just check out the bug report I linked in the OP.

Go and have a look at a neutron star they look horrible
Yes, I have noticed this too. The game seems to dynamically change the lighting depending on what you are looking at. For example if I am looking at a sun, the background skybox suddenly lights up and looks more like what it should be. I have also noticed that when I change the SteamVR brightness the skybox will look like it should, but the moment I move my finger off the mouse the skybox reverts back to how it looked originally, while the brightness slider stays at the maximum Ijust set. The skybox only changes as long as I leave my finger on the left mouse click while changing the slider.
