The wetwork missions
Although a wetwork mission may have a low level, like mostly harmless, it appears to me that it will always put you into a combat zone kind of experience, not just you against one target.

You find the target sitting still with other ships flying around and the moment you go into action against him, his expert level NPC buddies will make you wonder why the mission said "mostly harmless."

This is distinct from the assassination missions where you are only up against one ship and often that ship will pull you out of SC before you get to where you expect to find him.

it depends on what kind of wetwork mission you get, but some may involve just you killing wanted smugglers and they often times are not armed with anything besides basic weapons. if the mission is dangerous level they might have some shield boosters and rails but in a combat ship you should be totally fine. if you do a squadron mission, for example squad assassination missions, you might be dragged into a larger than 4 ship force to fight against. it just all depends on the mission, i've had some missions where a lone anaconda suddenly appears out with 6 other bandits.

Lower ranked assassination missions normally only have 1 target, but as you advance, assassination missions become more challenging , and those that involve signal sources of threat 4 or above will generally have you dealing with the target, that often will be in an engineered fer de lance with a good stock of shield cell banks, plus normally 4 of his friends, with at least 2 of them in vultures with engineered phasing sequence weaponry.

"Wetwork" type of missions seem to vary what exactly is asked.

The few I've done, is just destroying civilian ships. I jump to mission target signal, there are several of them, then I pick them up one at a time. They don't fight back, but they have mines, and start charging the FSD right away, so you have to get them real quick.

I have dealt many Elite Assassination missions, and usually involves a single target, a Corvette in multiple cases, never a wing.

Only when I took a "Wing Assassination" mission is when I faced a wing, that was quite a challenge, a Deadly Python tough as nails and two Dangerous/Deadly Vultures

Any assassination mission I take with a value of 4 to 6.5 million involve wings, being it solo or wing mission. wing missions generally have 4 +1 target, with the one being generally an fdl or corvette. solo have 3+1. all of them have the target on a Threat 6 signal source. the pluses are always vultures.
Single target missions normally do not go above threat 4.
