There are ways to 'cheese' it once you find a HGE you like(atleast longer than 20+ min to expire). via exit out to desktop then log back into CLIENT ... But I never really needed to do that.
The hard to get for me were for Military Supercapacitors and maybe Pharmaceutical Isolators(think I got these out of MISSION REWARDS mostly EDIT2: or Anaconda drops.. I do a lot of massacre missions)
Military Supercapacitors are extremely rare.. (thank RNG gods I dont use High Cap mods much) I think only found it once.. that was years ago.
All the rest is me complaining it's not Military Supercapacitors dropping.. lol
Federal systems:
Core Dynamics Composites
Proprietary Composites
Imperial systems:
Imperial Shielding
Civil Unrest system states:
Improvised Components
War or Civil War system states:
Military Grade Alloys
Military Supercapacitors
Outbreak system states:
Pharmaceutical Isolators
Boom system states:
Proto Heat Radiators
Proto Light Alloys
EDIT: Opps.. if you are having prob finding HGE.. higher population systems with said states will help (i can't prove that high pop make HGE pop more but that is from my experience)
so don't fly around looking for specific types of Mfg Materials, just load up on the Imperial Shielding and trade for the stuff you need. Using the above method mentioned you can get 100 (max qty) in about 20 mins, then go trade it and come back for more if you need it.
I also think they should (have) had a lot more quality for surface salvage. Like those random wrecks you might find out of nowhere on the surface (They're instanced). Make those yield tons of Manufactured, perhaps even using the same rules as HGE already but just surface, because scooping in the SRV is WAY less painful than scooping in space.
Hehe.. I can add... those HGE that spawn 250 000+ ls from the point of entry
70ly Jump should take some work.
Of course, if you want to have your ship completely engineered from zero by a finger click, then you will find it to be tedious. But it wasn't designed to work like that, to begin with.
That would be a good change.
Do you by chance have any citation? Because all I know about Engineering in Odyssey is that we'll be doing a lot of it, probably just like ships, we'll have at least 3 suits engineered for different purpose, and who knows how many guns/tools.
(Land in an HGE with 15 minutes or more lifespan, farm it, exit to desktop, login, FSD and go to the unknown signal right behind your ship (another HGE)
as for more rare components, material trader solves that completely.
and as for me, i have almost always collector controller and 20 drones with me.
arriving new system, honk, check for hge. first thing to do. in few days i am forced to go to material trader, for my inventory is full with some sort of mats. zero problems with these kind of mats.
most tedious i think are raw mats to get.
encoded are also easy to farm with jameson crash site. no prob there too.
i very early took advice from yt about starting collecting mats are engineer rep early on. never had problems with them.
