Type 6 for trading. Asp Scout is overpriced for that it does.

Asp X is okay if you want to use it for other roles like mining.

Definitely the Asp Scout. Hardly anyone flies one so you'll be a total hipster!

Ok, on the up side its quite agile and fun to fly one. On the down side it can't carry anywhere near as much cargo as the Type 6.

If you want to do rares trading though it should be fine.

The Asp is a multirole ship, so while it can trade it won't be as efficient as a dedicated trading ship like the Type 6 or Type 7.

Maximum cargo of the Type 6 is 114, and the maximum cargo of the Asp Scout is 74.

Asp also costs nearly 4x as much.

LOL. Asp Scout is literally the worst ship in the game. Every other ship is either really good at one thing or pretty good at a few things. The Asp Scout isn't good at anything. It's become an Elite Dangerous meme ship.

Get the Asp explorer instead.

Whichever one you like to fly.
Personally I own at least 1 of every available ship. I've spent the last two and half years circumnavigating the galaxy in a Beluga, but when I'm not as far out there as I can get, I spend a great deal of time in either an Orca or a Dolphin, just depending on what I feel like doing.

If I'm looking to pad my pockets with trade goods, it's a Type-9 for me. Previously I used a Type-7, but the Type-9 has vastly more cargo space and is infinitely cheaper to acquire, outfit and maintain than either a Corvette or Cutter, and will pay for itself in about 1/3 the time, as the Cutter has only a 4 ton advantage, if you make it a paper tube.

My daily driver is a Clipper set up for trading, so my idea of a trader may be slightly different from most. But I would recommend the Asp Explorer for trading because I had one. I tried the Type 7, it isn't worth the effort. Too slow and cumbersome, plus it still needs a large pad. The Asp doesn't carry as much, but it will go anywhere and get there quicker.

Go for type 9 and farm guardian fsd booster. With this you can have 20+ jump distance (and almost 700 cargo) and various trade toutes.
