OMG the taxi in this game.

I wanted to travel to my mission site with-in the same system. Boy its going on 30 min. like wow!!! Please shorten the time since we can't currently use our ships. This makes me not want to play. 30 min of waste of time when I can be playing another game and get more accomplished.

It definitely is a taxi simulator and that's ok, IMO, as we are testing out the game for further launch.

So far, the autopilot has been rock solid, no major issues for me. It even rocks the glide well, whereas, I have been known to screw that up significantly!

Remember we will have our main ships when this goes live.

There is 9 stations and 100 downports.

Actually having your own ship would make it faster in many circumstances. We can orientate ourselves with the orbits and gravity wells more efficiently than the taxi drivers.

Also imagine you're on a station 100,000ls from the main star in the system and you want to get to a station 75ls from it. A taxi will fly you 100,000ls in supercruise, whereas you can simply high wake somewhere, jump back, immediately be at that main star and enjoy a short 75ls jaunt to the destination. Lots of little things like this. It'll definitely be much quicker.

Put it this way, if I absolutely had to get to Hutton I'd pick the taxi option every time. Then I'd AFK and do useful stuff.

that's exactly why it's a good system to test.

The distance is however on player. I basically only pick the missions around the same star I currently am. So taxi never takes that long.

The irony is so rich with this post. Yes, people want a space sim and not a loading screen. Right now, the taxis are a glorified loading screen, a fancy one, but that's it.
In both cases, you have no interactions with the game, and can go afk/alt tabbing it won't change a thing.
