Why is the SRV such a pain? :(
I want to like planet stuff but the SRV is such a pain. The movement is really jerky, I have changed controls (HOTAS) multiple times and still it is really really annoying to navigate, especially if there is stuff lying around, you need to do tight corners, careful forward/backward movement... in other words, any time you need precise movement.

But there's no way to skip it if you want those sweet raw materials or Guardian stuff :(

Is there a 'best practice' how to maneuver with SRV and NOT bumping into stuff all the time and landing beside instead of on top your scooping target constantly?
The horror!

Thanks.

PS: Drive assist is on.

Oddly enough practice is the best practice. I also turn the drive assist on, think thats the name, it makes using the throttle much easier. For me anyway.

Don't do sharp turns (it's too easy to do it sharp if you use a joystick instead of a racing wheel).
Drive on normal gravity planets (around 1g).

Drive assist OFF makes it easier to control your speed.

yesterday was my first time using the srv. at first i didnt like it but after an hour or so of combat and driving around i started to really like it!

Is not that hard really, just go easy on the throttle.

I use assist off, and turret mode so I can see better where I'm going, plus feels less bumpy.
I use an xbox controller to drive the SRV

its easy and fun.
the key is patience and practice and patience and practice and patience and practice

on of my squad mates prefers to use an xbox controller just for the srv, might help you too. worth a look.

I use a hotas with no issues. cos.... yep you guessed it patience and practice

This is why most people find the SRV difficult initially.

Why drive assist isn't off by default is anyones' guess.

drive assist off and assign thrust forward and backward to buttons... also assign yaw to rotate the vehicle and when you are in turret mode move the turret with x and y, while still able to use yaw for moving srv

Once odyssey is released the planets will be vastly different as well. No more sheer cliffs and such like you see on most planets now.

it's time they introduce some new types of SRV like hover and other types.
Thaurane 2021 年 4 月 10 日 下午 7:14
I had to completely reassign the controls for my HOTAS on the SRV then fiddle with the controls multiple times until it felt right. Like Juan Kenobi said above. Go easy on the throttle as well. Think of it as being back in Driver's Ed.

The planet gravity and drive assist really messes with the control of the SRV. Low Gravity planets with Drive Assist on for example, will have the vehicle try to glue itself to the ground and cause your vehicle to spin out if you go fast or do a sharp turn at higher speeds.
On any low gravity planet, you will want to watch your speed and go slow compared to a high gravity planet, which allows you to drive faster and do sharper turns.

If you have driving pedals or flight rudder pedals, use those as accelerator and brake. Feels good and helps. However I think the separate body and turret adds a lot of complexity to the controls.

I use my pedals to steer. Works really well.

Use a gamepad.

It then handles like any racing game; triggers to accelerate and brake.

Once you’re in the air the left analogue stick will control your orientation.

As someone who played a lot of racing games that control method was very intuitive compared to using my HOTAS.
