Fleet carrier upkeep cost question
Hi,
So, at some point I should be able to afford an FC, but read some horror stories about the upkeep.

What's the "minimum" you pay on weekly upkeep if all I want to do is having mine as mobile base? i.e. park all my ships, plus re-fuel maybe.

Is this website still up to date: https://cmdrs-toolbox.com/fleet-carrier-calculator
I entered "Refuel" + "Repair" and gives me an 8mil weekly upkeep.
What's "secure warehouse" btw?

I'm thinking on getting enough for the FC + 1bil on the bank just for the carrier + couple hundred for me and in case or rebuys.

thanks!!

most players try to have at least 3bil in bank as a reserve but too each there own.

i am sure once you have it you will soon find out if you need more credits.
which at sum point you will need to top up.

dont freak out too much , as when a person gets salty the stories are far worse than what it really is.

best of luck cmder and enjoy your new home o7

I understand the minimum--absolute minimum, zero services--upkeep is 5 million per week, although you can alleviate it somewhat if you can find a place where other players regularly stop by to do business. You get a cut.

ah thanks, still some time to get there I'm at 3.4bil at the moment :steamhappy:

I think I'll stick with my initial plan which was reaching 6mil at least before buying it.

I would recommend that players always have 2 times as much in their credit account as is required for any given purchase, including Anacondas / Corvettes / Cutters in that wish list. For Fleet Carriers, assume that the actual cost (with services added) will be closer to 10 B than 5 B, and the upkeep will be around 1 B annually, which works out at close to 25 M per week, a very reasonable amount given the cargo capacity that the FC holds.

It also should be mentioned that the FC has it's own "Bank" functionality which means that you have to transfer funds to it immediately from your own credit account. So if you have 11 B in your player account before purchase, you'll spend 5B + 3B for the services you install, and then, you can transfer at least 1 B into the FC bank to allow for the first year of operation.

Restocking the FC Outfitters and Shipyards is also handled through that FC Bank, so it is frequently necessary to have more than 1 B to initially purchase the stock which will be sold.

I bought my carrier and had 200 mill in the bank afterwards. Upkeep was 10 mill I think, so I had 20 weeks to earn cash.

I've never looked back - everything is easier with a carrier, and you get a lot more time in-game earning money instead of moving ships and modules around every time you want to do something.

8 billion is a good sweet spot. It's more than enough to buy, completely outfit, and support your carrier for at least a year.

my carrier sucks 25m every week, so i stacked up 1200m for carrier upkeep, should be enough for about year.

I feel a little bit dirty, weekly cost 21mil and covered for 9 years and 4 months ;-)

My FC weekly cost is just over 11 million, that is if I don't make any jumps.

I know that feeling. I have enough in my FC balance to cover the next 10 years if I don't make a single credit from now till then, along with another billion on my CMDR

Mine runs around 13 million a week, it can jump up to 17 if I have friends over and bring the shipyard and outfitting online, I still feel these services should only be necessary if I want to sell ships or modules though, friends at least should be able to store ships and modules by default, theres no real money to be made selling them anyway,

I'd recommend aiming for a bit extra to be safe, upkeep isn't bad but fuel costs are astronomical in comparison, unless you find a real good deal somewhere tritium is around 50k a ton, 50 million to fill the tank, when I fill up I store an extra 4k so I dont have to worry for a while but keep in mind that's another 200 million,

When the carriers were first released the demand wasn't very high, I bought up 5k tons of fuel at 6k a unit, haven't seen that price again, that supply did last me a good while though, finally had to fill up last month and realised just how expensive it is.

Thanks a lot everyone for your responses, gives me a better idea what I should be aiming for.
Hopefully get there before 2021 ends :-D

My upkeep is covered for the next 5 years. If you know how to make enough to buy the carrier, making enough to keep it is trivial.

When carriers came out, I bought one, fitted everything except secure warehouse (still can't see a use for it) and dumped enough credits into it to cover costs for 10 years... Judging by the way Fdup is operating, the servers will be shut down soon anyway, so I'll be asking for a refund on those credits! :P
