Without the maverick suit some missions are near impossible.

Start small. Take some threat zero delivery missions. Once you have the maverick suit and some decent weapons, then you can take on the harder missions.

You're basically asking the same as someone starting out in a sidewinder can't take missions to kill Anacondas.

You can charge your suit by either buying (or finding) a recharge pack or using a recharge terminal. You've got to be very close for it to work apparently and use the right tool (not done it, forget what the tool is).

There are two ways to charge your suit battery:

1. Find a recharge pack, they're usually located in small yellow containers on the walls of some bases, especially in the PWR building. You can also buy them from Pioneer Supplies. Use them by opening your inventory and pressing use.

2. Find a recharge station, you can see them on the minimap as the lightning symbol. Use the energy transfer tool (3 is the default keybind, I believe, maybe 4) on the little circle on the station.

As for the clearance 4 (or 3 maybe) is the profiler tool. Use R to switch to profile copying mode. This is illegal and so is having the tool in this mode, if they see you with the tool in that mode you'll be shot on sight. If you look at an npc you'll get their name and their security clearance (1,2, or 3) hold down left mouse button on the npc with the profile copying active and you'll steal their clearance.

You can clone dead NPCs too. I scanned a couple of scientists and they dropped dead at 50m without any weapon involved, so I hate to think what kind of beam the scanner is putting out. (I didn't have it in Zap mode. I already have a scary number of hours in Odyssey.)

After they were dead I cloned their security level. Then I looted the base and left. (I failed the assassination mission the moment my boots touched the ground, so it was a chance to make the most of it.)

Are you sure you didn't blast them with the energy transfer tool? It's a one hit kill for unshielded enemies.

if your after loot also note after getting the upgraded suit you can do restore power missions which automaticly give clearance level 3.
just note after restoring power be careful about entering restricted zones
until you do below.
you need to go to the command center and disable both security and defences then your clearance gives you full access.

Every time I take a restore power option they forget to give me the power regulator. This includes the missions where the text states that they supply one. I've given up on those for now.

the missions givers/board are bugged check inventory and abandon if they dont give one.
as far as im aware all of them are suposed to give one.

power regulators were fixed and were working well yesterday. You are given one when you land (not when you take mission).

Technically they ship one to your ship immediatelly and you can equip it on taxi manually while you are travelling to destination. But if you don't, one is transfered from ship to personal inv. when you are landing and mission updates.

Nope. I was miles away. Even if the game bugged out and thought I was using the alt mode, there was no bounty or crime notification. They just collapsed.

(I've been playing solidly since launch. over 30 hours now.)

I did a mission after the update, landed and got the red 'you don't have a mission-critical item' message.

Will try again when I've done these transport missions.
