Elite Dangerous: Odyssey - Price Reduction?

As this DLC seems to be a steaming pile of crap at present which has no doubt resulted in sales tanking, how about knock 50% off the price tag?

Because with ratings like "mostly negative" on Steam and other reviews gusting a best, 3 out of 10 elsewhere, no one is going to be buying this for 40 USD...

i think different.
The release was a mess for sure but now it run pretty well so i doubt it.
Odyssey is sold well now also and i see people coming back.
So why lowering price ?
They maybe will do a promotion later to gather more people but i think that it will be done only on a pre DLC like they done for Horizon when Odyssey coming.
So it will be a long time before they do that.

If you want it at 75% off then put it on your wishlist and wait a year or so. They're not going to massively reduce it, they have other games to pick up the slack.

i bought two copys at full price directly from frontier and think it was worth every penny so how about no? this weak bait attempt has an extra 75% off so that is something at least.

Nope, it's still too new. You will have to wait for longer if you want to get it on a discount.

Making it $10 wouldn't change the rating. Fixing bugs and making it to run better would. Luckily, FDevs are working on fixing it rather than on making it cheaper.

I'm playing Odyssey, since launch. Its a great upgrade. Granted i don't do the on-foot FPS nonsense but rather i play the space game aspect. New graphics alone are worth it unless your strapped for cash or unemployed.

ye odyssey has not had a great launch. but i dont think it deserves the need to reduce price.

its a good update that has a single major issue and a few minor issues thats more an annoyance for some but fine for others
with the only major issue being the performance. (and thats getting better with each update)

and other small issues being some people dont like the new planet tech or dont like the new UI. in short most of the small issues are just preferences of the players and not an actual game issue per say. (planet tech does need some work tho. but in my opinion is way better than horizons even in its not 100% state)

as for the reviews.
i believe a very large amount of them are negative for the simple fact of "the devs never added the content they said they would add"
eg. no ship interiors and so on.
things the devs said would not be in it since they announced the dlc but because of misinformation spreading people thought was getting added.
its been a massive issue for elite for years where the playerbase over hype things fully by their own fault and then get upset at the devs for not delivering on the hype.

tbh just because of how upset people where on the things the playerbase hyped up
i think even if odyssey released in a great state with no performance issue and few bugs the game would have prob still been mixed reviews on steam due to the game not having features people thought it would be cool to have.

Just a thought from someone who hasn't bought into Odyssey yet.
I'm still watching from the sidelines.

Odyssey is a DLC that is currently more expensive than the base game, and from seeing the launch and little things I dislike about it, that's partly why I haven't gotten it yet.
But that being said;
if there was a price drop or even just a sale, some 25% discount sale, I'd probably consider it.

The base game is currently 6+ years old, while the DLC is brand new. When the game was new, it cost more than the DLC does. You can always wait for 6+ years, if you want to buy the DLC cheaper.

Why would you want it, even at a reduced price, if you think its so bad?

It will probably go on sale some time next year, perhaps the 1 year anniversary.

they are not going to do that, not with all the updates that i know will eventually fix most of the issues players complain about (including myself on release) otherwise retrospectively what was the point in fixing everything? ...they know that new players will evntually get the expansion because many other players already have and therefore that would mean they won't have the complete experience. sort of a catch 22 you might say. ... @agony Aunt...imho has the right logic..p

Many things can change a couple of years down the road. We aren't getting any younger or healthier, either. Waiting for a couple of years just to save on a few dozen of quids?..
