Guardian ancient site
Hello,
So I'm at the ancient guardian site HD 631 54 B3A and I unlocked the blue orb and got the data.
My question is what should I do next?
Do I unlock it only once, or can you rinse repeat at this same site for more bluprints?
I'm mainly after the FSD booster.
I brought along lots of cargo space and am acquiring as much of the techs and relics as I can, but mainly wondering if I should (or even can you) recharge all 6 pylons again.
Thank you.

You can repeat as many times as you want by relogging to reset the site.

The relics and such just give you are bit of credits when sold. What you are looking to stockpile are materials, which don't take up cargo space. Scan monolits and scoop up the parts you can shoot off buildings and left behind by sentinels.

If you use the Inara site,
https://inara.cz/galaxy-techbroker/
you can check the requirements for every type of module via the Technology Broker section. So, for the Guardian FSD Booster, the requirements are:
Guardian FSD Booster
1xGuardian Module Blueprint Segment (0)
21xGuardian Power Cell (0)
21xGuardian Technology Component (0)
24xFocus Crystals (0)
8xHN Shock Mount (0)

Also, I highly recommend DTEA's guides. His tip regarding using the camera to navigate was extremely useful I found ;)
This one details the Weapon module blueprints, but he visits your site later in the video at 11.03 minutes.

log out and repeat. equip point defence and park your ship near the site, it takes car of sentinel missles.dont bother with the cargo space, the stuff is worthless.

Better yet have 4 PDCs and a friend with the same parked right next to you for ultimate fireworks !

FYI them guardian components that do drop from them pillars will drop from the same spot in the pillar every time you relog so you can easily farm specific components.

For Data farming it's easier to locate Ancient Ruins, locate spot where there are 3 Obelisks close together and farm the heck out of them as Obelisk Data drop is completely random.

That is if you want to farm it, if you want to roleplay it then see ya in couple of months :3

Grind horribly by repeatedly running the dang thing a good 7-8 times, guns 13 times, ship three times and then shoot random objects for a few hours followed by hours and hours of scanning oblisks for the only data that matter, epsilon because the most commonly needed resources for guardian stuff is the rarest drops. Technology components and epsilon data. Probably cap out on all the rest trying to get enough of either.

Having point defence on your ship makes it dramaticly less tedious but it's still the least fun I've had in gaming in the past 20 years.

Agreed, i'd say the grind is comparable with GTAO with one crucial difference: while GTAO is quite obviously balanced around Shark Cards (real money) and buying new useless vehicle after another, I'm yet to discover the reason why Elite has such a needles grind :hyperthink:

But yea, "exploiting" the game is time consuming as it is but roleplaying the game will not really get you anywhere as the material/data gain is truly badly balanced, it will just make you bored from the game before you even finish upgrading your ship.

Unless you happen to like the activities that the game offers. Then you will have fun, and your ship will be upgraded along the way, without you even noticing it.

For sure but for how long before you have to repeat these activities ? How many of these are created for sole purpose of a single goal ? (Engineering = upgrading ship, tangible goal which progress is artificially limited by grind, Planetary Landings = more grind as a main purpose, and epxloration as a side goal, and so on and so forth)

I have nothing against roleplayers but not all folks will commit years just so they won't be bored by very poorly designed mechanics :3

If I like to kill NPCs, I can repeat it more than once a session. ;)

There are no problems to do something more than once, if you like to do it. For example, it you like to drive around, looking for things, then you will scan those obelisks and will like it even after the fifth scan.

Maybe tenth, maybe 50th but that's still not enough for upgrades, is it ? You will eventually have to do it so many times it will bore you regardless.

My point is that the grind is needlesly long and just by playing the game without specifically targeting this you'll never gonna make it.

I definitely did it fewer times than "50" to get my upgrades.

You will eventually have to do it so many times it will bore you regardless.
That's why you don't do all the upgrades at once. If you concentrate on doing only one thing again and again, then you will get too much of it even if you like it.

I like ice-cream. But I don't eat only ice-cream every day, every meal. That's why I still like it.

I got Guardian mats, enough to unlock the FSD booster, and two more mods that I didn't even use yet. And when I got those mats, I felt that I had enough of Guardian ruins for now. So I left to do other things that I like. I know that when I would want to look at those ruins again - I will collect some more of those mats. And I wouldn't get bored.

Well, I finally got the FSD booster and I'm very glad I did the grind. Now my Beluga whale has a jump range of almost 50 ly, really helping to make passenger tour missions less tedious.

my next suggestion for what you should do is repeat the process again a couple more times so u can get more module blueprints round up some more parts. and then go nab you guardian shield reinforcements.
rich100211 Apr 15, 2019 @ 10:09am
Thanks bongerman. I was wondering how to get more module blueprints. I noticed I could log out/in at the site to my heart's content, but seemed like even after energizing all the pylons and activating the orb again, and scanning the orb, I wasn't getting another blueprint?
Maybe I'm doing something wrong or have to go to another site besides HD 63154?
