A warning about them though, they have no utility modules and all require charging for them to shoot. The Trident is the only one of the three that has unlimited ammo like other fighters, the lance and other one(haven't used it in forever but have limited ammo and need to dock with the mothership to reload.
The Trident is middle-of-the-road. Some days my NPCs kick ass with it, other days they can't hit ♥♥♥♥.
The Lance is the most consistent, with its high power hit-scan Gauss. It does serious hull damage, despite being flagged as Thermal.
What I meant but did not articulate very well, do they come with regular beams and such or only anti xeno?
Kind of like the others come with turreted or fixed beams or repeating lasers, etc..
The Guardian fighters only come in one weapon variety, All Fixed, all special Guardian weapons (Shard, Plasma Charger, Gauss)
All of the Guardian fighters are pretty difficult to pilot because they're all fixed and have no defensive utility option. The Lance is best used for sniping (Gauss Cannon) the Javelin is best used for fast hit-and-run (Shard Launcher) and the Trident is the hardest to use, since you need to keep a constant stream of fire on the enemy. Your best bet is to stay in "Blind Spots" on big ships, and flee from smaller ships that can turn on you quickly.
Just because something is designed for something doesn't mean it's actually effective at it. Just look at the type 10 for the perfect example.
