Finding the spot is just a beginning... Opening asteroids and collecting LTDs is another thing...
2) click button for what you want to mine to find a system worth your time
3) get scanner that fires probes, fire them at rings to find hotspots
4) land in double hotspots if possible (just inbetween them, eyeball it)
5) have 2 medium mining lasers, collector limpet control, prospector limpet control, cargo of 200 preferrable (fill cargo up with limpets, you can abandon them as you mine, they are cheap)
6) fly around, shoot prospectors in asteroids, target the prospector limpet you fired to see asteroid contents
7) mine anything that has 20% and up of the material you want to mine
8) unleash collector limpets (WITHOUT TARGETING materials)
oh, also have refinery (class2 is enough)
use contacts UI to ignore materials you dont want limpets to collect (best option is to mine a few roids in near proximity without collector limpets, going through the comms UI and ignoring materials you dont want).
Even if you ignore mixed ores like gold+silver, and you have ignored silver, limpets will collect the rock.
thats about that, spent 2 evenings on painite and got 500mil.
Seems like something they should immediately release a hotfix for since it seems like a core game mechanic that a whole lot of people use continually. Guessing that must just be how this company rolls.
Maybe there are some sort of settings to get around it and not everyone experiences it? I dunno.
I can fly backwards to get better scan results but it's not really ideal.
