How do you find pristine rings and the mineral or metal you want?

I'm really getting tired of having to google where to mine certain things like gold or cobalt. All the map tells me is if the rings are rocky or metallic. How do I filter the galaxy map to tell me which places have rocky or metallic rings?

You cannot. If you want to do it the old way you must explore, scan systems and bookmark relevant systems and/or ringed bodies.

If you don't even know that I'd suggest just going and mining in random places. You need a foundation of basic information first.

Pristines are generally found outside of human influence, beyond the edge of civilization. Although there are a handful inside the bubble, they're very rare and the players who know of them will sometimes guard that knowledge jealously.

They're not too hard to find, but you do have to spend some time exploring. Once you've discovered a planet, you can read the information about the rings in the system map.

You can't filter for mining on the galaxy map.

Also, there are mining guides in the guide section which will tell you what you mine from ice if it's not already obvious ....

Just try mining a few places and you'll figure it out.
