Krait Mk2 vs Krait Phantom
I'd love some thoughts and ideas of how these 2 ships fare. I wasn't playing when Mk2 was released so now I have both to consider.

Before, my Alliance Chieftain was my pretty much go to ship for most things, now I'd love a new do-it-all ship, can't figure out which one is better.

Loved that Chieftain could stand toe to toe with just about anything so I would like something like that in terms of combat but also looking into doing missions, maybe some exploration but not too far, multi-purpose basically.
Also never tried Ship Fighters, I know that's a main difference between the 2, mostly cause I didn't want them eating my XP.

The MK2's interior is gray, and has a coffee maker.
The phantom's interior is red, and lacks a coffee maker.

Okay, I absolutely love the fact you took the time to find that out about the interiors!

Playing in VR, the cockpit of a ship has a huge effect on the experience of flying any ship. This is true outside of VR of course, but inside of VR it becomes one of the most important considerations.

Which is why I'm currently flying to Colonia in a 41 LY jump range mamba and not my 68.5 LY jump range krait phantom.

Something that surprised me is how much more hearty the Phantom is over the Mk. II. Despite identical engineering on the Shields and the Boosters, the Phantom comes out slightly behind the Mk. II, however it's armor is nearly 400 points higher, and 3% more resistant across the board. With the added maneuverability, this equates to higher survivability in the right hands.

Isn't this because your Phantom build has more C5 HRPs?

You're not wrong. While the Mk. II is certainly capable of equipping an equal number of 5D HRP's, and gaining a solid 300 additional hit points in the process, it would be under utilizing one of its Size 6 slots to do so. This doesn't make any real difference in game aesthetically or logically, but it's one of those niggling inconsistencies that can raise some folks hackles. Me being one of them, lol.

Despite the Phantom having that extra HRP though, it's still more maneuverable and speedy than the Mk. II. Really curious how they worked all that out.

Agree Phantom is faster and more maneuverable than Krait but not much except Phantom can jump further than an Asp X.

I have tried building a Phantom for combat and exploration but couldn't get the higher DPS of Krait or same protection as an explorer Orca.
