Playing in VR, the cockpit of a ship has a huge effect on the experience of flying any ship. This is true outside of VR of course, but inside of VR it becomes one of the most important considerations.
Which is why I'm currently flying to Colonia in a 41 LY jump range mamba and not my 68.5 LY jump range krait phantom.
Isn't this because your Phantom build has more C5 HRPs?
You're not wrong. While the Mk. II is certainly capable of equipping an equal number of 5D HRP's, and gaining a solid 300 additional hit points in the process, it would be under utilizing one of its Size 6 slots to do so. This doesn't make any real difference in game aesthetically or logically, but it's one of those niggling inconsistencies that can raise some folks hackles. Me being one of them, lol.
Despite the Phantom having that extra HRP though, it's still more maneuverable and speedy than the Mk. II. Really curious how they worked all that out.
I have tried building a Phantom for combat and exploration but couldn't get the higher DPS of Krait or same protection as an explorer Orca.
