Federal ATR?
I nearly got destroyed by them in my Viper, managed to supercruise out, and now I'm laughing just because I made it. But anti-shield weapons? Super-engineering? Jesus aren't they a bit overpowered? Or are they more like starports where you're absolutely not supposed to fight them and you have to run away?

They are awesome because I **** myself when I heard real voice acting then next thing I know my shields are offline lol. Are they beatable if you have good enough engineering? I have a nice FAS lying around somewhere. But you can barely escape nevermind beat them in a Viper.

i havent been able to kill one myself. only killed 1 while in a wing of 4 fully engineered ships. the ATR do exactly what they were designed to do. protect the system from known threats. the higher the security level, the faster they show up. many were asking for this for years and they got it :)

edit: i was just corrected, we killed a reg authority ship. we couldnt kill the ATR. there were alot of ships there all hammering on us lol

That's actually a pretty good mechanic then. Normally I'd be calling Frontier out for bringing all that difficulty to the game, but I like it, it keeps pirates at bay and is realistic too. I'll try and pick on civilians from now on though ;D

They are flying stations. Cheat ships. B/c FD couldn't figure out how to make them better. Cheat ships to protect carebears. Carebears are ok with cheating as long as it doesn't intrude on their special way of playing which is obviously more special than other people's way of playing. Doesn't matter it doesn't stop me from anything. Just beware that when they drop you have to leave. Then re-interdict the person. Eventually you will get your target.

They don't follow you into SC so just go back to SC and find your target again. I interdicted a player Conda 5 times before I killed it. Annoying for both involved but I could not make their death swift and absolute due to this ridiculous game mechanic that, in short, stops nothing. Because of this mechanic I will now chain interdict players until they die. No quarter given, none expected.

Problem is notoriety also increases for PVE. Now 'that' is a stupid game mechanic.

I'm okay with people wanting to play peacefully. What I don't get is why don't they join Mobius or just play solo.

Please don't start that argument. That horse is dead.

Fact is with ATR you just have to play differently. Different approach, same outcome. They protect no one. And they've made everything more ruthless and dangerous if anything.

Right now the meta for piracy is completely broken b/c powerplant destruction does nothing and engines just spews crap all over space. You also can't chat or RP in piracy b/c your target can jump out too quickly. So if no piracy then death it is.

If you want to be a murder hobo in secure systems, you need to get good.

I heard on comms that no one was to deploy hardpoints... I take it they just attack anyone with their hardpoints opened even if they're clean?

The launch of ED called and wants their lame term back. You still using that ridiculous term to describe PVP?

My suggestion to all is give no quarter. If you interdict and fail due to ATR chain interdict until death. If they can't figure out high wake (I also recommend a wake scanner) then that is on them.

I only wish piracy was a legit way to play but it isn't anymore.

Also the current FDL PVP meta is so OP it is ridiculous. I just re-kitted my FDL with the new meta and insane amounts of damage once you get good at PA's. The rails are just pure evil.

3 or 4 shots from my dual rails can take down Dangerous Conda shields. And those are only G3 and G4. I don't have all the mats for a full G5 build. In PVP unless you are against one of the clans or someone who knows what they are doing you will win every time. They really messed up the balance.

From what I heard they are not lethal enough. I wanted them to be like the town guards in Baldur's Gate.

They are lethal but they are gimped b/c they don't follow you to SC and when you re-interdict they have to spawn back in. So in the end you can still pretty much do anything you want as long as you leave when they arrive. But your target usually is dumb enough to come back into SC.

The best thing to do if you are a target is high wake out and back in. Eventually you will be put into a different instance than your attacker.

Also if you have a high wake target set and you think you are going to get interdicted charge your FSD. During interdiction if your FSD is fully charged and somehow the interdiction mini game points near or at your FSD target, you will win and high wake out. I did this when two Corvette's were pursuing me.

But simplest thing to do is high wake out from local and drop to local when you arrive. B/c the person isn't there when you drop even if they wake scan and pursue they won't see your low wake when they get there.

In ED if a tree falls in a forest and you weren't there to hear it, the tree never fell. Also serious PVP ships don't waste a spot for a wake scanner. They are local fighters only.
