Earth-likes
So, I'm taking the long way home from Colonia and I'd love to find an Earth-like on the way. I'm using the FSS on White-Yellows as that's what Sol is - any suggestions or recommendations as to how to improve my chances of finding one? Many thanks!

lool for m stars. most habitable planets I have seen (in the bubble as well) orbit red dwarfs/m stars.
and if you find a waterworld, many close systems poses waterworlds too. And this rises your chance to find an earthlike world in the mix

EDDB website, Bodies page, planet type option...

goto this sector

Norma Expanse

have a look at hawkins gap when you get there nice outpost." hope you have a SRV"
as for what you are looking for there were plenty in that sector.
i lost count of how many earth likes and water i found out there.

and out of all the sectors i have explored Norma Expanse has been one of the better ones

this is a traffic report it use to get updated every month,

i use to use it alot as it showed me where every one was going.
a great way to find places other have not been.

best of luck with your journey o7

That's actually terrible advice. The Earth-likes orbiting Class M stars in the Bubble are all terraformed, and many are in "hand-crafted" systems specifically designed by FD; they rarely form "naturally" around such stars - you've got a less than 1 in 1000 chance of finding an Earth-like around red dwarfs. In my systematic survey of 800 Class M stars, I found 1 Earth-like, and that was around a Red Giant, not a dwarf.

Class F stars, on the other hand, have around a 1 in 60 chance of finding an ELW. They have a slightly higher chance than Class G (Sun-like) stars. Smaller Class A stars work even better, though the odds drop off sharply if the star gets above a certain size. My surveys of 800 A, F and G class stars found 18, 13 and 13 ELWs, respectively.

Most ELW-hunters use the star filter to filter out everything except A, F and (sometimes) G class stars, to increase their odds of a hit. Ignore the Class M stars.

F type stats statisically have the highest amount of earthlikes and water worlds. G are second best.

IIRC, F types have something like a 20% chance of containing at least one ELW or WW. G types i think only have a 7% chance.

The greatest chance of finding Ammonia worlds is around M type stars.

"O, A, B, stars are more likely to have biological sites in the higher temperature range 0 -3
i.e B0 VAB,

F class have WW and ELW in the cooler range 7-9 i.e F8 VI,
G class look for hotter ones 0-3 i.e G2 VAB
K & M class, look for the hotter ones 0- 5 i.e K4 VB.

These are not hard rules you can fine ELW in alot of different star classes and temperature ranges, I have even found an ELW in a Neutron star system"

I haven't found that to be the case, either. Yes, there are far more ammonia worlds than Earth-likes around M-class stars - I found 8 out of 800 in the Survey - but it's still far more likely to find ammonia worlds around hotter stars. My ammonia world hit rates for 800 A, F, G and K class stars were 20, 23, 19 and 15. So F stars are the best for Ammonia worlds as well as being good for Earth-likes.

For max profits, generally, stick to A-class and F-class stars. They have the highest hit rates for all the valuable planet classes: Earth-likes, terraformables, ammonia worlds and water worlds.

left today for another explore and found several ammonia worlds in M class

found a couple in the brown dwarf systems weather it was a glitch but they are there.

when i explore i just choose every star type. and i always take my explorer 7 ship"type 7"

Should have guessed there's no straightforward answer lol, I'll try A, F, G worlds and hope I get back to the bubble before Odyssey comes out! Thanks for all the advice

I didn't make those statements based on my own experience. I based them off stats gather by a guy some years ago who made a website with the stats on them. I helped him out with some proofreading of his text at the time.
