With the new patch they nerfed it. Even if you try to farm on an overlapping hotspot, you´re going to get the same amount as on a non-overlapping hotpsot.
not true at all. overlapping still provide a higher yield than non-overlapping hotspots, just less than before. non-overlapping were buffed.
That's what the changelog says. But we shouldn't take changelogs as if they were Gospel. As edelweis mentions preliminary testing seems to point to a more severe effect than that. Although of course at this point it's only anecdotal evidence, it'll be a few days until there's enough data points to know for sure.
The best advice for OP at this point, or anyone who's asking the same question as OP, is to test it themselves. 100 prospectors thrown randomly in an LTD3, 100 prospectors thrown also randomly in the center of a single Hotspot, take note of all results and percentages and compare. Repeat process several times until you have enough data to hazard a guess... and there'll be your answer.
Besides, arguably the most severe nerf for LTD mining may come from the changes to the Demand mechanic, not the Hotspot overlaps. If what the changelog says it's true, it may be the end of those 1.7 million selling prices.
id rarther believe the patchnotes and wait till things settle after a patch as usual.
far too many jumping to conclusions at the moment. time will tell
this one is looking decent
As a result of these dirt of situations, which have happened countless times over the years, I'd rather believe those who actually test the effects of an update. Although one thing we agree on: more time is required to be able to reach a definitive conclusion.
Ignoring the potential Hotspot nerf bug being tentatively reported (Could just be new mechanics we don't understand yet, but could be and is most likely just a bug) the answer to your question is:
Yes, but indirectly. Smaller hotspots have smaller radii, which means less actual area in which the optimal concentration exists.
