Steam doesn't sell this game's keys, cause since April 15th the authentication method has been changed. Steam still accepts those old-bought keys, but they can't do anything good to actually activate and to play the game. That's why you should buy only from authorised resellers - they don't sell outdated keys.
Your option is to wait for the Frontier support to look at your case, and they might activate it for you. It may take several days, depending on how busy they are.
Tickets can take up to 72 hrs to reply. It depends how busy support are, but they will get to you as soon as they can!
I was planning on deleting this thread, but maybe leaving it up will help some future users who encounter the same problem.
So I bought ED some months ago, haven't gotten around to it. Now I want to play, a launcher pops up and asks me to link an account. So I create that account. Now the launcher only gives me the option to "Play Demo". What am I doing wrong?
If you can't get it to work, just send a ticket to support; they'll sort it out.
cheers
Quite a lot of older games still have the CD key pop up, from before steam properly integrated key management. So either you're new (in which case welcome) or you just don't have many games on steam...
All that GFWL crap, Uplay games, they all use their own CD keys for games that you've bought on Steam. This is no different, apart from having to copy and paste it into their website instead of the game. And you don't even have to do that anymore since they properly integrated account linking (doesn't apply to games bought before hand).
IF you are really lucky, support may help you, but do not expect anything...
Always check your sources.
That did not fix the problem im still having the play demo problem is there a fix to it now in 2020?
