99.999% Galaxy Explored!?
I can't believe this, I'm 3,000 LY outside the bubble and the last 500 systems I've landed in are already discovered, how is this mathematically possible? I should have landed on at least 1 undiscovered system by now.

I've even tried exploring rarified territory (2,500+ LY above the galactic plane) that sometimes requires me to use jumponium in my already 83ly jump range exploraconda yet even those RANDOM systems which require manual route calculations have all been discovered AND mapped?

Can someone tell me which side of the ♥♥♥♥ing galaxy HASN'T been mapped to near 100% for ♥♥♥♥ sake? I even disabled the KGBFOAM stars and it doesn't matter everything has been discovered. I'm tempted to make a youtube video with me just jumping to random systems way way way way way outside the bubble just to show how absurd this probability is.

Whats going on here? Is the route planning computer only making jumps to discovered systems? Is there an option to only jump to unexplored/undiscovered/unmapped systems that I'm missing somewhere? How far do I have to be to actually find one ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ undiscovered system in this game that supposedly has billions of systems left to discover? <<

my stats show 140,000 LY total hyperspace jump distance and I've probably discovered less than 10 new systems but NONE recently. Whats going on?

note it is beautiful 2,500 ly above the galactic plane but every_single_system up here has been discovered and most of them mapped, even the ones that require 160+ly jumps! FYI I'm in Kepplers Crest now on the outer edge of the galaxy, so there should be a billion systems to myself out here yet I've not discovered a single one over the last month...

EDIT:

Wew ok I'm 5000 ly away from the bubble and finally hitting all the unexplored, some good advice on the route planning above, and I suppose many many people have tried to climb to the top and bottom of the galactic plane to get a nice view so that makes sense. Admittedly the title was a bit clickbaitey as I know most of the galaxy is actually unexplored but I wasn't joking about hitting all explored systems +/- 3000 ly around the bubble.

I'd like to know the % of explored systems as a function of distance from the bubble center, for example:

100ly from bubble = 99% systems mapped
500ly from bubble = 84% systems mapped
1,000 ly from bubble =72% systems mapped
2,000 ly from bubble = 45% systems mapped
3,000 ly from bubble = 12% systems mapped
4,000 ly from bubble = 1% systems mapped
5,000 ly from bubble = .001% systems mapped

I was 3,000 ly from bubble and hitting 99.999% mapped so you can understand my disbelief, thinking it was down to the route computer only selecting pre-explored routes..

FDev if you are listening PLEASE ADD these options to the route computer so we can select:

[X] route to unexplored systems only
[X] route to unmapped systems only

any simple path to follow will likely have been followed before.

Try finding harder, darker routes out of the bubble.

you have to disable "auto route" cause everyone flying on auto route , who generates the same path .... set your on course threw the galaxy, step by step and you find more systems.

I'm currently fly back from Colonia back to the bubble, I'm literally falling over undiscovered systems, they're everywhere, you just need to get WAY outside the bubble.
Also if you plot a rout, that rout has been plotted before, many times.
Pick a system, plot the rout, after say 20 jumps, 're plot a different rout that is close to where you are going, 're plot the rout again about half way there. Keep changing your rout. Eventually you will end up on a rout no one has been on before, and undiscovered systems.

You're doing something wrong.

I still find/found unexplored systems, if i travel/-led only 1,5k ly away from the bubble. :jasminhappy:

3000 LY isn't really far away from the bubble in exploration terms, and especially when you're trolling sparse areas, there's a rather high chance that people have taken the same route before. Go to denser regions for move further out for better luck.

Best way I've found is to set the jump range to minimum, then plot somewhere far as balls away, so you'll hit every possible star along the way. found quite a bit this way

A lot of folks before you set out to explore both the extreme top and bottom of the galaxy. That's heavily trafficked territory. Same for the outer edges.

Actually, accorfing to statistic, almost 99% of in-game galaxy is UNexplored. There are more than 300 000 000 000 systems. All our lifes will be not enough to discover it all =)

So go further, deeper into unknown, stay away from common routes and well-known places. Try to fly closer to the center - there are so many stars there, it can't be all explored.
I even can guarantee you that you easily can find unexplored systems no more than 2000 ly from Sol. Just search smart.
lol, I still discover the occasional planet IN the bubble
I'm currently 6.6k away from Sol in the middle of Sanguineous Rim and finding a lot of unvisited and unexplored systems, some with really valuable planet types. Just try certain star types and use economical routes or just plot your own routes. Star types I like to search is first five and the last four in the star class filter.

less than 5% of the galaxy as been explorer in E:D so don't worry, you got plenty of room to explore.
If you want to see 99.999% of the Galaxy explored, come back in a few thousands of years. It wouldn't be explored before that.

Not really. Auto route often can't even generate the same path twice if you try to replot the course again.

It's just a lot of stars were already passed through, if you choose a popular direction. You need to get up or down first, to see undiscovered places.

I found several undiscovered systems on my way back from Calonia, parked there before I went on vacation and didn't play for a month, then when I logged in and realized where I was I just went for speed back home, wasn't even trying to explore just scanned while lining up for the next jump, made over 9 mil in scan data and had a page and a half of newly discovered stuff.

Trust me theres more out there, get back to us after you've been 15 or 20k lys out.
