Any voice will do, it's a personal choice, but the good thing with Amy is that it's the same voice used for the Astra voice packs, just less robotic sounding. Some prefer a male voice, I prefer an English sounding female voice. Funny, cos I'm Scottish..
Google text to speech voices for my pc, look and listen, buy it, download it, apply to the pc and it'll be available to use with text to speech in voice attack.
Cheers, I will look into it as soon as I get back from holiday.
I quite like the TTS voice Hazel (default for W10 UK language pack) but I wouldn’t mind something different after a while.
Good thing is that I can swap these voices anytime and just update the VA profiles accordingly.
On a side note - if there was a GlaDos voice pack available (or at least a TTS voice) I wouldn’t hesitate one second to buy it :)
Anyway, I think I have all the info for now. Thanks again.
Any further queries, (from anyone), and I'll try to answer.
As for the docking request trigger, that's way above my ability, I don't code at all. Been looking at some YouTube vids though, and there aren't that many unfortunately.
As you create your triggers, you should go into the speech responder tab on the EDDI program and untick the one that you've made a trigger for. So, untick the fuel one in the speech responder, or it'll tell you all the time, like you've found out :)
When unticked, it should just tell you once, at the end of scooping. If you start to scoop, stop, then restart, you'll trigger your own command twice..
Ok, so you're coming back from Colonia? Try this trigger:
((EDDI jumped))
Then, with text to speech:
After the last jump, we are now in the {TXT:system name} system.
Or, maybe try
This is the {TXT:system name} system
The second one may sound better if the system name is just letters and numbers, which may be the case for you, seeing where you're at ;)
Put a 3 or 4 second pause above that command, so it doesnt trigger absolutely immediately when you have jumped. The pause feels better.
Tell me if it works..
Honestly just almost sht my pants, I'm using neutron stars to get back, just jumped in between 2 regular stars, scooping distance of each, and one of them crazy fast neutron stars In front of me, while in VR. Those fast neutron stars in VR scare the crap out of me :)
You could actually use WVR+windows voice macros & autohotkey(all free) and tie that into EDDI; there are plenty of possibilities.
Supporting VA might also be nice.
I recommend everyone go and get it.
Some prob dont want to pay more money, some prob think that it doesnt work right, some think it's too difficult to set up.
But of course, there's no telling them, the ears are shut :)
I was looking through the documentation of EDDI but I could not find anything.
I would like to set up various responses for “target destroyed” events but at this point I’m not sure it can be done.
But you'll need to tweak this one, because there is too much info you can get, and if you're in a CZ or the like, it'll annoy you :) The skill is in setting up a trigger that helps, not annoys.
So, every time I target a ship, all I get is the legal status (clean, wanted) and their skill level. Two words. Nothing else, cos you're going to be targeting a lot in that situation. You can get info on the targets ship, which faction they belong to etc but dont want to hear that there.
If you're cruising around looking to pull over people, adding in more information is useful here. Adjust the info you want to trigger depending on what you're doing, it is all there to be used just how you want it :)
Only when you understand how to use the commands, on that EDDI page with the huge list of things you can access, do you realise how much you can do with EDDI :) Definitely a wow moment.
It's well worth the time having a look and playing with them a bit.
Scroll down to the blue writing, the list, that has Home then AMFU repairs etc. These are the commands we can use to get info and then execute actions.
Yes, this is what I was reading through but I saw nothing related to targets.
But I saw from change logs of EDDI that with new versions they are adding new events. So who knows, maybe one day.
All I wanted (for staters) was to set up a bunch of virtual pats on back for destroying a target before I dive into more complicated commands/responses.
I’m starting to think that this will be the second Skyrim - modding and testing far more than actually playing the game :)
But I don’t mind that at all, EDDI+VA looks very promising and powerful.
This is the one which gives you info on your target.
((EDDI ship targeted))
Then with text to speech, put in some of the bracketed commands, such as the hull health. Trial and error to see what you like. Then target a ship, and listen to how it sounds. Pick and choose which info you want to hear upon targeting a ship and build the other words around it so it sounds natural.
I'm thinking you'd need to be the one to trigger a response to a dead target. But if you're clever, it can be done nicely.
Example:
You have a closely fought dogfight with another ship, both taking damage, but you win. Quite common.
You say:
[Wow; well; my god] that was [a bit;] close
It says:
Indeed, your hull is [only;] at 40% health. Probably best to land and repair. Shall I open the System or Galaxy map for you?
I need to high wake.
Sure. Galaxy map it is. (opens Galaxy map)
Etc etc
The "Where can I obtain (any given material)" is awesome, it just tells you! And "The shut up" command is also quite useful as she can go one a bit :)
