Unable to land on Earth like planet?
I took one of passanger mission, initially she wants to go to some station, but in the middle of journey, she ask if she can pass by to popontia for sight seeing, it's only 2 jumps so OK. When I look at the planet, I was kinda excited, cause it's Earth like planet, so I hurry myself to enter the planet, to see what it's looks like....
But what the hell? As soon as I close to the planet, instead of entering the 'planetary landing stuff', I dropping cause too close...
It seems that they are not ready for this, I thought Horizon will also cover this kind of planet.... but I was wrong...so wrong

You can currently only land on planets with no atmosphere. They have a blue circle around them in the system map. Your passenger was likely pointing you to a beacon in orbit.

Horizons has been out for almost a year.

We have know for MORE than a year that Horizons would only include airless rocky and icy worlds because the game is being built in stages and they want a solid basic terrain generation before they worry about all the different effect that atmospheres will bring to the table, which they want done before they worry about filling worlds with life.

There will be a tourist beacon in orbit around the planet that you will see on your HUD and will drop out of SC and scan for the sight seeing tour.

Do a little bit of research next time so that this doesn't happen again, because as I said, this has been widely known for over a year now.

Really? did they mention about this? I am so clueless about this... I mean, it's been 2 patches since the first time they release horizon.. but yeah I understand it's gonna be difficult to build this ELW

Whoops, sorry about this chief, yeah I know it, I visited tourist beacon and finish the mission, my concern was I able to land on it. And please dont be so harsh, I might be clueless, but you dont have to take it very serious about this....
Still thank you very much for responding this stupid question :) appreciate it

i think its for long-long future releases DLC. both because such planets generation become MUCH more complex(aside landscape - you need to had proper foliage, water systems(rivers, oceans, swamps, etc), you had to introudce animals, serpents, insects, birds(including sane/sentinent ones probably with missions and standing. generating meaningful/sane infrastructure on surface(not just small outposts and settlements)also become more complex/challenging.
. aside mainor faction, present in space). also developers need to think about athmosphere, especially in terms of physics/aerodynamics (GLIDE wouldn't be much pleasant or safe or even possible in some combinations of planet/ships), etc.
some habitated planets will remain off-limits and players will be insta-shotdown after landing attempt in early stage in orbit.

Well forgive my ignorance, I owned horizon not too long... and I didnt really do my research about it... but it is understandable, it's not an easy task to do that thing... hope to see it anytime soon tho

My harshness isn't directed at you personally but more at an irritation with the huge number of people who come in to Elite without doing any research and then get angry and feel ripped off because they bought something without reading the label.

The majority of people who come through here and mention this sort of thing aren't civil like you, they're here to ♥♥♥♥♥ and moan and complain about hwo bad the game is. Thankfully, now that No Man's Sky is out and failed horribly, many people have started to flock here and have given Elite a much needed boost in the limelight.

I'm expecting that Elite will have ELW being landable around the same time Star Citizen enters beta :P

Probably. Sometimes around the year 3016.

In all seriousness, I would say about 2 years from now. They're steadily working they way towards it and we've seen some encourage progress, but there's still a long way to go.

When Horizons first launched the planets were basically spheres, they've developed to the point where they have decent textures and some objects populating the surface, as well as decent terrain generation such as lifelike canyons and craters. But there's still a long way to go from a respectably lifelike desert world or moon, all the way to a planet with trees and water and living animals.

At least quality such as two universe (I forgot the name of the game, that allow u to design your own ship) will be very nice
