I use reshade 3.0.1 without trouble. google it
once download, click on the .exe, choose elitedangerous64.exe (if in 64bit, and thats in steam/steamapps/common/elitedangerous/), and DL the default shader it propose to u.
Then, launch the game normaly. u will notice gery top bar with reshade loading.
nothing change in your game now, u have to hit shift+F2, that open the reshade setting screen, and here u choose the shaders u want to use.

Edit; EDFX was more simple, but with less choice in the settings
