How do I make trade more bearable?
So I'm pretty new, only started a few days ago but I like to think I know the basics. Inventory management, energy distribution, supercruise, etc. The only problem I really have is interdictions. I mainly just play solo, by the by.

I'm not trying to come off as whiny, I know it's a core part of the experience; I'm just looking for ways to make it less obnoxiously constant when trading or doing courier missions, which are my lifeline at the moment. I can understand an NPC interdiction here or there, but it feels like I'm guaranteed to be targeted if I haul over half of my cargo space. (72)

In any other ship I'd probably just try to escape the interdiction, but I'm using the Type 6 space van which makes it pretty hard if the pirate is any level above mostly harmless. Thus, I usually have to submit and try to low/high wake out. Problem with this, is on the off chance I don't get deleted within the first few seconds of being pulled over and manage to get my FSD going, what then? If I low-wake, I'm just going to be interdicted again in thirty seconds, if that. If I high-wake then I have to jump back to the system, and I could just be grabbed again anyway.

I don't understand, y'know? Is this what trading is supposed to be like or am I just getting unlucky? Hell, just yesterday I escaped an interdiction only to be grabbed by a different NPC not ten seconds later. It feels like overkill, if that makes sense. Like an arbitrary fun-tax you have to pay to go anywhere with cargo.

Is there some obscure method I can use to not be interdicted in the first place? I've tried flying in deep space instead of on shipping lanes, but I just get pulled out of supercruise the second I actually turn back to my destination.

Also again, not trying to sound whiny. I'm just frustrated, out of ideas and need some help understanding what I can do to make it less of a fun sucker.

With some practise, any small or medium ship can evade interdictions. I've played on both the PS4 with a controller and a PC with stick and throttle. I've spent plenty of time in type 6's and keelbacks, and while they're a little sluggish, they're still pretty easy to evade interdictions.
One of the first things to remember is that almost no ships in the game yaw as well as they pitch.

You need to constantly roll so your escape vector is above you and pitch up. If it's under you, pitching down also works, but the instruments block your view down (even in a type 6) and it's easy to overshoot.
Not sure how easy it is to evade with KB/M since it's been a long time since I played that way.

If you're running well paying missions, you'll probably get interdiction attempts by NPC's for each set of mission cargo you're carrying. So if you stack missions it's going to seem like a constant thing.
The only good news is that you're normally only interdicted once per mission, so if you're hauling cargo and only have 1 mission open, you're probably home free if you can evade once.

If you're finding this annoying, you might want to work on upgrading to a Keelback and try core mining. It pays very well, the Keelback does a respectable job of it, and NPC's aren't much of a problem. They scan for valuable when you first get to a RES and leave you alone if you're just carrying limpets.
You'll probably get an interdiction attempt on your way to sell your ore after mining, but you're hauling 30 to 60 mil worth of cargo so that's to be expected.
(you can't do core mining in a type 6 since you need a medium hardpoint)

Hey, cheers for this.

I was actually working toward a core mining rig, but I was going to get an Asp for it. Didn't know the Keelback was a decent miner, so that's definitely going to be easier on my 5mil wallet. :petrifiedeye::petrifiedeye:

Makes me sad doing long trips for 600k when you can get like 1.5m for one opal.

I'll definitely refrain from stacking missions and focus on actually trying to win the interdiction minigame, I think. Thanks again.

If you want to trade without much risk, stick to high security systems. Profits might be less though.

Also, when you say trade, do you mean actual trade, or do you mean delivery missions. In which caes, check mission descriptions to see if it says hostiles might be sent against you. Don't want hostiles? Avoid those missions. Profits might be less though.

Use supercruise assist, turn off auto throttle and slow down into the blue zone about 5 seconds from your destination. You will drop out so quickly and from such high speed that pirates can't get you. If they do just practice fighting interdictions, it's pretty easy unless you're in a T9

A side effect is that you will occasionally pass through stations at light speed but I'm sure it's fine .
