I know, it doesn't make a lick of sense sincce there is no actual haggling done on your end, but whatever.
A added feature is, if you run between Sothis and Ceos you will gain Federal Navy rank and also gain alliance status with Sirius Corporation which is handy when you unlock the engineer Marco Qwent.

TBH, it's a pretty boring career however, so you may need to mix it up a bit!
Seriously, is kinda slow. Also for the Ceos/Sothis thing, lug some passenger cabins with you (or store and transfer them, dont think either sells them) and you can also do the very short sightseeing mission which often spawns Bromollite and Modular Terminals as a reward which also are requested by Engineer, including Marco Qwent as mentioned by Skinny.
Imperial Slave "Taxi" is always a good one, buy legal in an Empire system and sell them in a black market somewhere. Mining is kinda sucky, but, if you don't care what you mine that then it is essentially all profit, and you fill your hold much faster than aiming just for the expensive stuff.
If you see some missions wanting some more commonly mined material, thats a bonus.
Spamming courier and similar missions is a great way if you can find a nice repeatable route.
And of course, the lost art, Rares trading. Made millions in an Asp Ex doing rares, and picked up some exploration rank/cash on the way.
I got most of my Elite trading rank from mining. In a cutter, it should not be a problem to get more than 10 mil/hr. Just takes some skill to be efficient and to find the right place to sell everything in the end. :)
