How to dock SRV with ship?

First time in my SRV. I can't dock with my ship.

I read that I have to target my ship and request docking - I tried that but there's no request docking option. I can target the ship, find it on my contacts panel, but there's no way to interact with it there.

Driving into the glowing area underneath does nothing.

Have no clue what I'm supposed to do.

Drive into the glowing area underneath as you did, and look for a blue light on the right where the mass lock indicator is on the ship, which means you are in position. Once in position you need to open the center panel and in the SRV role panel there should be a "Board Ship" option.

I watched somebody trying to thruster up inside their Anaconda bay from the ground of the Guardian site in order to dock... it was hillarious!

It is stupidly hard sometimes. Try drive from front or behind of the ship, line up straight as possible then slowly eek forward until you the blue light Josey mentioned pops out. That's how I normally do it.
