Courier jobs are meant to be the first jobs that newcomers take. As such, they serve as a lesson on taking missions and a bit of practise on docking and undocking from stations, while being designed to be easily doable with even an e-rated sidewinder.
A lot can go wrong in the black commander.
Twice. Sometimes you might have to tell the faction you are abandoning the mission when there are waves of incoming enemy and the system is low security. It can get tedious. So that Tycoon-level mission to a 70kls station really stinks if you have to high-wake in the last 100 light seconds.
Hauling Trit is the hot move right now. Find a seller and a buyer within fully-loaded jump range w/stations less than 100 ls and a durable transport ship make 5-10k/ton credits. Turn and burn until the market comes to its senses. The fun won't last long.
Mining, at the beginning, made me want to smash my ship into the nearest planet. Surface mining was not fun, or good.
Luckily though I had a friend who was feeling helpful, he came by and cracked a core for me. Core mining is where all the money is. He cracked that core for me two days ago. I now have a python fully upgraded for mining and just got an anaconda. (I wasnt going to get such a large ship so fast, was looking at an FDL, but I had quite a bit of cash after a couple of runs in the python)
