so recently bought the game and opened launcher and tells me to log in. years ago i think when they did free week i played about half and hour but made an account. back then able to get in even though didnt own the game. now i just bought it before sale ends, log into the account i know (yes the account info is correct when i enter) but tells me to purchase/redeem it. so purchase it of course so on redeem i dont see any key in email or from steam itself. even checked my ED account for anything like that and dont see anything to redeem.

When the launcher asks you to login to an account to verify ownership, you have two options: regular (Frontier) log in or Steam log in.

I did not see that. Thank you, regardless. I quit the game to close the launcher and chose the vanilla version of the game in steam, and then I chose the vanilla version of the game in the launcher. Now it's working.

How did you change it in the launcher?

So what i did:
I was asked to create frontier account. After i did it, i cant log in because of this error.
So i opened my frontier account settings in browser (Partner Keys option) and linked steam to it (It wasnt linked).
After that game launched.

I can confirm this worked for me too. You can also click to register again and there is a option to link your accounts, i suggest doing both just in case, also re-open the launcher if it doesn't work.

I don't think this is Epic screwing over elite. I've had this problem before, not just after the epic crossover.

I don't see the option to log in to steam as well ... so I went through a video that says to log out of the machine ... but I don't have that option.

Pretty crazy that they have such an archaic way to log in to the game. It ruined it for me. First game ever, I wasn't able to play it right away...

They've got so many things you have to do, just to log in and play a game.

Very disappointed with Elite Dangerous. Was looking forward to it. I've messaged support.. I've tried everything from reinstalling, to looking for my game key, I've linked my steam account to my frontier account...

But it doesn't show the game for me inside my frontier account, like in partner area or anything.

It's ridiculous what they expect you to do, to just start the game...

I have both re-opened the launcher and linked my Steam account (it was already linked before) and it's still happening. I've been able to play the game several times before so I have no idea why in the world it's having this issue. Getting incredibly frustrating.

Ok, so I think I figured this out. First right-click the game in your library, select "properties", and then you should see launch options. In the launch options put /ED . This will make the game launch vanilla ED. From there you should automatically be logged in. If not log in through steam/link steam account. After that launch the game then close it and go back into the properties and change the launch option to either /EDH or just leave it blank. This is the only thing I have found to fix it for me so far. Good Luck!
