Copy Preset controls to new .binds file?
I've been playing Keyboard and Mouse preset for all of the ~800 hours in the game, and recently picked up a flight stick.

What I would really like to do is copy the Keyboard and Mouse preset to a new .bind file, and just make the few changes I want to make to the controls for yaw/pitch/weapons, but keep everything else on keyboard and mouse.

From what I've seen, if I do a custom binding, I have to go through and remap everything myself, which seems like a pain.

I expected to find the presets in the:
C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\Frontier Developments\Elite Dangerous\Options\Bindings
..folder, but there is only a single file for Custom (custom.3.0.binds) and an empty file (1kb) called StartPreset.start.

Is there a way to copy all the bindings for Keyboard and Mouse preset to a custom binding, and then modify that copy?

two ways.
one, if you change even a single binding, it changes it to Custom.3.0.binds in that folder. i like to bind galaxy map and system map to numpad * and numpad / . rename it to something else so it does not get overwritten, like mykbm.3.0.binds.
then open it in notepad . where it says Root PresetName= make it the same as your filename without .3.0.binds, so Root PresetName="mykbm"

or copy ...\steamapps\common\Elite Dangerous\Products\elite-dangerous-64\ControlSchemes keyboardmouseonly.binds to the other folder and rename it to something like mydefaultkbm.3.0.binds
then open it in notepad . where it says Root PresetName= make it the same as your filename without .3.0.binds, so Root PresetName="mydefaultkbm"

Thanks! Looks like I stumbled into the first scenario when messing around. I'll keep tweaking as I get more comfortable using the stick. I'm way out in deep space now, so I don't have to be very coordinated, but I should start practicing so I can dock in a station when I get back.
