"The game failed to communicate with the Authentication server"
Anyone know how to fix this? The frontier support page didn't help, and it seems like a small issue so i thought id just ask here
Also, im not posting this in #bugs & issues because people view that page much much less, and this is probably just a simple fix im too stupid to discover : O
Thanks!

The problem is probably on their side. There was a game update the last night. Since then there are various problems. They are working on fixing those.

I thought so. I just hope I might be able to get on a bit later into the evening to bounty hunt with a few friends, but I just hope it gets fixed soon :L

This worked for me, from another post:

"Open the Launcher.
Click Options -> Log Out Machine.

It’s really important to use Log Out Machine, and not just Log Out!
Restart the Launcher, fill in your details, and log into game."

Having the same issue

Same here. 2 Parts:
1. Authen error "Machine ID invalid" - I logged out from machine and got the code again and could go in.
2. However once I got in, no play options were available (Solo, Open, etc) and red words at bottom "The servers may have been taken down"
Still waiting

The no server options showing up happened to me earlier. I verified integrity ran again, waited for a minute and then the servers went click and came up.

Alright something happened and it works now. Here's what I did to overcome the "waitingforconnection" error that you see at the bottom left message when you get to the main menu.

1. Go options > network settings. Please check your settings here. For me I ensured IP4, with no port fowarding.
2. Check the adapter you were using. I have several (Hamachi for Homeworld etc) so I just clicked through each for fun. (Note: Your actual internet adapter is the only one that will eventually work)
3. After changing adapter, pressed apply
4. No go - went back to launcher menu. In the menu next to the bottom left launch/play button I chose between ED: Horizons, ED and ED: Arena, one at a time.

Now here's the part where I made it worked. I repeated steps 2 to 4 for around 5-6 times and on one of the times I was in the menu the "Continue" button was there and no server error message in the bottom left of the main menu. I forgot the exact combination I did but it was random but the thing is to end up with your internet adapter each time.

If you're using cabled internet turn off your wifi and vice versa.

Hope this helps.

I am having the same problem. I have tried the 'log out machine' but it doesn't fix it.

First time I have tried playing for a while.

Probably i can help you. I often recieve the message Purple Python when i tried to chose a mission.
In my case, the size of the Download package wasn't right. So I don't recieve missions from the In-Game-Server (purple Python)
Look at this Page

https://praxistipps.chip.de/so-beschleunigen-sie-ihr-dsl-mit-der-richtigen-mtu_11866
or
https://krausens-online.de/windows-10-setzen-der-mtu-aller-netzwerkkarten-ausser-loopback/

- I had to open the Command Modul (cmd) with the right button as an admin.

cmd.exe

- read the Network

netsh interface ipv4 show interfaces

- My MTU was 1500 for the WLAN connection
- I changed it:

netsh interface ipv4 set subinterface 11 mtu=1464 store=persistent

- :steamhappy:Now my MTU was 1458. And i have no more purple Python.
