Problem solved.
You just have to jump 5000+Ly, not much else you can do. Use the Neutron boost in your Galaxy map plotter. It will try to plot your route through those stars.
You can suicide and choose a free Sidewinder as soon as you have reached the Professor's request. It will cost you your current engineered ship, but will save you the return. Just make sure that he is actually unlocked before suiciding - you don't want to do it all over again. ;)
Iliad speaks sense. Put on some tunes or watch a film. If you're not too concerned with honking and FSS scanning then it's a quick process - scoop, jump, scoop, jump.
As an explorer, scanning and mapping breaks the monotony of constantly jumping, but I know it's not everyone's cup of tea.
Music or films will make it go faster for you.
Anyone know of a base that far from the bubble?
I've gotten pretty good at honking and scooping, I guess would be a shame to lose all that data?
I hear DBX may have better jump range. I could swap my AspX fsd over and strip it out of all but necessities and plow my way out that way I guess.
But keep in mind - if you like to top your fuel after every jump, the DBX' smaller fuel scoop will be slowing you down. It will take the scooping more time than for you to realign with the next star. The Asp-X finishes scooping before you are realigned.
Sorry editing as I think this out...
I'll just eat the rebuy.
Set up for neutron stars.
Do the neutron highway.
Highest jumprange is dbx & anaconda.
(dbx can be bought really cheap in wolf 406(IIRC))
cheers
Personally, I probably would have chosen the DBX over the Anaconda for such a trip. For me a bit of waiting is less mentally damaging than a hard-turning ship every jump. :)
Might be different now though. Haven't looked at my Asp since I got the DBX.
