Part of the fun is that you have to look. When you're in a system, use the FSS. Look for Metal rich body's or heavy metal worlds Wait during the scanning and look in the top right corner of the screen. There you find information about the geological ot biologicak sites.
When there are no geological sites, land you ship, jump in your SRV and roam the surface of the planet. Watch your sensor display for more!

Mid strength signals are man mad objects such as ships, skimmers or cargo containers,
High strength signals mean technology such as beacons or crashed satellites you can scan and can also a settlement or base of some kind,
And to clarify what I mean by strength of the signal I'm referring to how high up the wave scanner display it indicates,
