Elite Dangerous

Elite Dangerous

Time to delete my pilot and START OVER!!!
Thanks for the warning. Really loved that pop up that said, going here will cause you to enter combat, and we're going to revoke your permit, which will cause you to fail all of your missions.

Oh wait, there wasn't any ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ popup.

I mean, you have to leave the starrer zone eventually, and you don't have to pay the fines
Laurreth Apr 9, 2020 @ 3:48am
So you end up with a bunch of fines in systems you can't go to anyway, sounds like a big deal ;-) Not nice, but at the same time not really an issue blocking any kind of progress either.

I'm new at the game, could you elaborate on how exactly this can happen?

When you rank up at one of trade/combat/exploration, the game considers you to be "grown up" enough, and will deny you a permit to enter the beginners' zone. So, if you leave the beginners' star system, you wouldn't be able to come back.

Assuming this even is what happened to the OP…

When you start the game, you are in a number of systems that require a permit only new pilots have. You can see those on the galaxy map, they have their special icon. Once you get any "elite" rank (so either combat, exploration, or trade goes above the initial harmless/aimless/penniless, and reach any system that's not part of the "newbie bubble", you lose that permit and cannot go back.

By and large, you won't see much change unless maybe if you play in open and suddenly everyone is out to get you.

Honestly the starter zone is very limiting and there's no real reason to stay there once you have traded in your sidewinder, best I could do on my new account was a d rated hauler with a terrible fuel scoop, and li Yong Rui space is nearby where you can get discounts. Sure I could have gotten a cobra with worse jump range and a terrible outfitting.

Completely accidentally and without warning. I'm also new, I'm still getting a feel for the game and how things work. What's messed up is I was routed through that system repeatedly as I was doing the 'start' missions, then decided to pop in for a peek, just to learn that now I'm kicked out of the start area at 2 hours old.

It doesn't really matter @ Zen as long as you don't play in OPEN. The only purpose of the starter zone is to prevent other players from sealclubbing players in the first 2 hours or so of the game. The other star systems are not inherently different than the starter systems.

Go out and explore the bubble and find a nice spot to settle.

If you read the mail you get ingame it explains the newbie permit system to you and what happens if you carry out your “exit” mission

Just because you have access to that exit mission does not force you to do it. All faction missions within the starter bubble will only put up missions for the bubble, not outside.

You will only get one mission to go outside and that is your exit mission.

Learn to hit #2 on your keyboard and read the communications you get, they are more detailed then you think.

Quit complaining. The galaxy is much larger than the starter zones. Starter zones are recent. Long term players never had them and we still managed. Grow up. Instantly jumping on the steam community to complain every time you make a mistake isn't the developers or our problem. Not understanding how far you can jump, where you should jump, etc are not "bugs". Try to learn instead of complain. Many of us will willingly help you, but you gotta lose that cant do attitude.

What none of you seem to be understanding is that I didn't take an exit mission, as you should be able to tell from my post, I automagically failed other starter missions in the process of learning the game, all because of wanting to go take a look at a system that I'd flown 'through' and had what seemed to be a very lucrative trade price. If there's important information like getting kicked out of a starter system that lets you learn the ropes of the game, don't you think there should be a better warning in place to make sure that's what you intend to do?

Being a new player, I'd prefer to learn the ropes in a safe space rather than time to get ganked alley. I popped into a new system, then learned the hard way that pirates do exist. As clunky and difficult as it is to change your destination while flying, it became a matter of necessity to dock in the system I was already in for repairs, after being violently removed from jump drive multiple times by a pirate.

On top of all of that BS, automatically failing my missions, I couldn't even sell my cargo. So I'm docked at a station, in a ship full of holes, failed my other two missions, full of cargo I cant sell that makes people put holes in my ship. This is not the kind of surprise that new players want to learn. If it's important, maybe a clearer indicator in the tutorial? Maybe those systems should be highlighted green, and an actual voice message that says if you land outside these systems, we're gonna revoke your starter area, the green highlighted planets are the start area, some kind of better information system to the new players.

All you guys that have been playing a while telling me to stop whining, but you don't even seem to understand what the complaint is. The complaint is simple. If it's important information, wouldn't it be nice to actually learn it in the tutorial rather than SURPRISE!!! YOU'RE SCREWED!

ColdWonder Apr 9, 2020 @ 1:22pm
That is bad luck but worse things can happen. These safe spaces didn't exist when I started, so i cant comment. Are we talking NPC or human pirates?

Sounds like it should of been more informative.

This is inaccurate information. You can leave the beginner system, as long as you do not dock in a system 'outside' the beginner systems, you will not revoke your permit.

What Dolphin said, is correct. Once you rank up you get kicked out of the beginner system(permit revoked) that is how Frontier set it up. I would suggest you start running some data delivery missions, and if you need help let me know. I should have some time later tonight to help.
Black out, I didn't get kicked out of the starter system because of my rank. I specified which part was wrong, you can leave the beginner systems, and enter other systems with your n00b permit, as long as you do not dock in those systems, you don't lose your n00b permit.
