If you are using Steams screenshot function (F12 by default) they go to "C:\Program Files\Steam\userdata\[YourSteamID]\760\remote\[AppID For Elite this is 359320]\screenshots" this could be a bit different depending on where you installed Steam.
But if you are using Steam the easiest way to find the screenshots would be to open your main Steam Client window and select from the menu: View->Screenshots, then select the game. From there you can also open the folder on your disk where the screenshot files are.
You can also set your settings so that the screednshot viewer always opens after taking screenshots and leaving the game. That is under "Cloud" in your Steam settings.
Did you make sure there is enough disk space, and the folder is not write protected?
