If you are using the games screenshot function (F10) then your screenshots go to "C:\Users\[YOURUSERNAME]\Pictures\Frontier Developments\Elite Dangerous".
If you are using Steams screenshot function (F12 by default) they go to "C:\Program Files\Steam\userdata\[YourSteamID]\760\remote\[AppID For Elite this is 359320]\screenshots" this could be a bit different depending on where you installed Steam.

But if you are using Steam the easiest way to find the screenshots would be to open your main Steam Client window and select from the menu: View->Screenshots, then select the game. From there you can also open the folder on your disk where the screenshot files are.

You can also set your settings so that the screednshot viewer always opens after taking screenshots and leaving the game. That is under "Cloud" in your Steam settings.

Hires pics go to the same folder as the normal ones for me. I will test if they still go to my pictures folder.

Yup, still goes to My Pictures\Frontier Developments\Elite Dangerous. Hires and all.
Did you make sure there is enough disk space, and the folder is not write protected?

Windows bujilt-in ransomware protection (which is disabled by default because nothing will run with it enabled) and similar functions of all kinds of broken antivirus software can silently vanish your screenshots, make sure you disable those "features".

Just add an exception for ED by opening settings - security in windows.

yeah figured it out is was fault of microslut, again, so i reinstalled windows and now i dont have any problems
For some versions of Windows it needs to be "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\[YourSteamID]\760\remote\[AppID..."
